The dude is either a low baller, or so new that he doesn't know that he just screwed himself.
ServiceMagic pisses me off, the latest was one of their people telling a customer that we would be able to put a coating on their siding to stop mold growth permanently, WHAT?
If I didn't use their ratings/reviews, I'd drop them like a bad habit.

Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing in Anne Arundel County, and Howard County, Maryland
Wow, are you saying you don't have a good rep where you are from? Didn't you say you just moved there? Now I understand the traveling two hours for three hundred dollars.

No no no, I never said I would travel two hours for $300. I said if I finished a job that far away and there was one close by there, that I would do it for that price so I could do it while I was already there.

Mr Hoover, Pats point was: Do you really have such an undesirable reputation near your home? If you stated this in jest, I get it. But since you avoided the obvious, I give you credit for being honest.

Couple of thoughts here on this thread...just have to weigh in with my $.02. First, ya'll come on down to FL if you really want to see some lowballers. Everyday I fight jerkoffs who offer $99 house washes. Second, I think that one of the reasonsthe softwash/pressure washing industry now is so overwhelmed with bad competition is that we have "bragged" about how much we get per job.
On an average 2500 sqf house, I'd love to pick up $300 for a roof cleaning, but in my market that just ain't going to happen.

This isn't florida! We can't work 12 months out of the year so we should be able to get more than what you get down there. I too fight guys that offer $99 house washes but i always win. Also the roof was 3500 sq ft and 450.00 was more than fair.
The deal is guys learn everything they need to clean roofs here and elsewhere but many and I mean many fail to learn what the market rate is being charged by a "real" company. So to be beaten out on bids by guys that are looking to make a few bucks here and there.. kill guys that need to pay the bills business and household. God forbid plans for retirement or college funds for the kids or health insurance expenses. Kim R

I agree, but sadly they hop on to a board and see posts like " I made $850 on a roof today", etc. and the allure of quick $$$ comes to the. In reality, on a $350 roof my HARD costs are only $75-$175 (chemicals & help) , which is still a pretty good profit margin. What newbies/lowballers tend to forget is the fixed costs of having a "business" rather than being just a fly by night operation, which include: fuel, insurance, advertising, marketing, office costs, etc. Add all that up, and it ain't nearly as profitable as it originally seems. But we still do a disservice to ourselves by posting prices in open areas...maybe even in the members section.
I also meant NO disrespect to Diamond...i hate the thought of the lowballers, and understand that your work season is much shorter than ours here in sunny florida.

Well if this lowballer is a member here maybe you should talk to him. Perhaps he really does no what to charge and thinks he is charging appropriately. Invite him out to a bar or something and start talking about pricing.

Opioe451, i talked to him 3 times before this happened. The funny thing is about a month later the lady called me back to clean her concrete. I went there and was more than half of what she paid for the roof. Also she said she wasnt happy with the roof cleaning job that the other guy did and that she was calling him to come back and redo it. I love Karma.
