I seem to remember a lot of the criticism when i was trying to help RCIA grow was about freedom of speech and every time a post got deleted we were attacked for freedom of speech. See here it is plain guys. No written user agreement upon signup means there are no rules. I never signed any rules so how am I bound to them?? You really think that some random guy that finds the site is like "gee I better see what the rules are on this thing before I use it".
Second: You can easily use Google to research forums that tried to tell people what to do, It usually doesn't work, and I can't find a single example on line were it worked with no user agreement. So if the RCIA (whoever that may be today) thinks they can be the first to control information with no contract than more power to em, but very unlikely hence the current and persistent thread that has been at question for over two years.
okay so here is my thoughts, I started out on this site about a one yr ago, it was a free site. I didn't comment I just read and read and took a ton of notes I mean a ton, let me tell you I have two no three tablets of notes I got from the search button. I finally started to ask a few questions about 3 months into the process, I got some great advice and some great knowledge, I thank the RCIA for all that I have learned. My first yr was a learning experience and this yr is starting off great, I am going to have my first ten thousand dollar month this month and its just the start of the season. I am so thankful to the RCIA Chris and all the other members on this site. Now that being said I have started to run into the guys wanting me to tell them how to treat a roof, I always tell them if you want to learn go to the RCIA and use the search button, I am glad to be a paid member finally, and I will donate more eventually. I would never have been able to do what I have done if it wasn't for this site. It is also hard for me to not respond to a question on the open site because if it wasn't for the open site I wouldn't be able to have done what I have done. I also see the point of having a paid membership, some people are not willing to use the search button and want the info now. I am all for a membership and will only post on the open side to promote my company from now on. Once again thank you Chris and all the other roof cleaning professionals on this site for helping me get started.

Everyone. It is pretty simple. This is a forum great. But it doesn't have to be a place to give trade advice to just anyone that drives by looking for a free tank of gas. Some cars aren't with being on the road. That's a judgement call.
As for brother Scott, he is on my "pay me no mind list." LOL So I am not taking much value in his opinion on this. Others shouldn't feed into it either. Have a nice day.
As for the other feedback, discussion is healthy. Rules and regulations are great when followed, but it is clear that doesn't work well on here. Then to enforce them causes way to much are burn. Then some applies to some and not to others. It is like a " monkey trying to F--- a football."
In the end all this has to come from self discipline and just doing the right thing to protect your investment. Again, these guest that have no skin in the game mean nothing to me personally or professionally. Remember, in business nice guys finish last!
Look we all know what the problem is, how about talking about solutions.
My solution. Stop using the open side of the forum to discuss the process stuff. Use it to post your work. That alone is enough to tease, as it's called, the guest to take the next step and put some skin in the game.
For the SEO concern, posting your work in the open side does that and it should be your work that is seen, not how you do your work. Just Google roof cleaning in your area, any area, and see some of the posts that come up under the SEO listing, you will be surprised what has been out there for the public to read. Every time you post in the open side the search crawler nails it and it hits your area, remember the responses in those posts are there also for the world to see and your potential customers. Once it's out there you cannot take it back.
Some good points Bruce! Unfortunately, we will not maintain the good SEO we now enjoy with only promotional posts. In fact, the more we mainly post in the closed section of the forum, the worse it is for SEO.
Think about this ? If we only ate Lobster everyday, we would soon get sick of it, and not want to see it anymore. Well, think of Google the same way. If all we feed it is promotional posts, it will soon get sick and tired, of us!
Now, in the world of SEO, many PAY for links. In fact, I have paid for links to get the SEO of the RCIA Forum up. There are 2 kinds of links, relevant and non relevant.
RCIA Forum is BOTH Relevant and highly Ranked. In fact, it is THE best site in the world for "roof cleaning link juice", Bar NONE !
JUST the ability to have signature links here, and to post promotional posts ALONE is a Bargain at 100.00, not to mention the brotherhood and prestige that goes with being a Premium Member. True, we should keep SECRETS in only the premium section. But the info on how to clean a roof is already out there. IF we keep running our newcomers off, they will simply go to other forums, and take our SEO with them.
Guys, it is the Roof Cleaning QUESTIONS we have answered in the past that drives our SEO.
IF we continue to hide our new answers to roof cleaning questions, our Content will become Old, and we will lose the good SEO we now enjoy.
Here is the deaL, THERE IS NO BETTER WAY TO SPEND 100.oo on your business then to become a Premium Member.
Who gives a chit if your non paying competitors learn roof cleaning ? They will learn it somewhere, if not here. But, w/o promotional posts here, and links in their signatures, you will OUTRANK them.
Bill Scott never paid to be a premium member, and openly admits it. That is why his posts are removed. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it.

I see, well that makes sense then. It does bring up another question. Since everyone here has the same password of 1125mem25, than what happens as memberships expire?? Activeboard will not allow personal logins for threads only a blanket password. So I guess the RCIA will have to change the password daily at some point or change to another forum??
Also I think Chris has made it clear multible times that he wants people talking roof cleaning on the open side for SEO. Pretty sure the buck stops there. Chris it's your forum always has been, are you at least getting the money??
Were does RCIA member dues go? to it's owner or somewere else?

Pesonally I would expect that most that choose to be a premium member would not be the type to use what they haven't paid for and are also the type who conduct themselves professionally. It is very child like to carry on the way you are Bill. If you don't like something then simply move on.It's embarassing at the least.

Yes Bill, I am getting the Money. Gary gets a little for all the work he does, and the rest is used to pay the Bills and Taxes. Gary is very fiscally conservative, and makes sure we have a reserve to pay our bills and Taxes. Thank God for the wonderful RCIA Volunteers, we could not run this place w/o them!
I didn't realize we all had the same p/w. Would it be beneficial if the p/w was periodically changed and emailed to only the currently registered premium members?
