Got a call to give an estimate on this roof yesterday. We do not have very many of these around here. So, I have not had a chance to do one yet. I know form reading on here and taking notes, this is a different animal to clean. Not sure if this is the one to be my first, but I would like to learn how to clean these types, up north on the big lakes, these are the "in" roofs tohave lately. And, a few years from now, all these million dollar plus cottages are going to need to be cleaned. This roof has moss and lichen on top, sides, and underneath the shingles. Oh, and lot's of bee's living under the shingles.
Not sure how these types of roofs are priced per sq. ft. either. I know they are much more work. Any help ???
I have done a number of them. They can be a hand full. Those shakes look pretty beat. It took me a lot of experimenting to come up with a process that not only cleans them but will last without harm to the shingles.
Unless you are getting a good price and are willing to work, I'd be careful what you get into, replacement cost is out the roof. LOL
