Jersey- I would recommend this: next time instead of $536, eat a few $$$ and have your price come in just south of $500. Even though its only a couple of bucks, there is a huge psychological difference in over 500 and under $500.

Their will always be someone cheaper and hungrier there making it harder for us to make a living. That's the way it is and will always be. What can one do.

I just cleaned a little cape cod roof and softwashed the house for $653.60 and I thought I might have been a little low. Sounds like that guy is quite hungry, and sometimes it's tough to let the customer know that they could be making a big mistake by going cheap on this type of cleaning. I don't bash my competition, but I do let the customer know that the reason our prices are higher are so we can afford to do things properly without cutting corners and so we are around next year and the year after to keep taking care of our customers. It may help to justify the price if they know that if there is ever a problem, you will still be around when they call.. on the other hand, the low priced guy may price himself right out of business.

The information to clean a roof is everywhere not just here you guys need to realize this. I say it over and over again.

@ ivan 536 for a two story roof cleaning and house washing is very cheap im definetly higher than that and im getting my number. Two guys,insurance ,gas, chems, and time how can this guy be legit. Answer, is he is not and the homeowner is taking a big gamble. They must not care about thier home.

 I agree it is all over the web, but they seem to land here. Of the two guys I have heard of this year they both said they where with the roof cleaning institute of America to the customers. I don't even know who these guys are, at least from the forum. The point about the open side is valid, why join when it is all for free. Personally I don't post anything of merit on the open side and for good reason.

 

I quit worrying about the other guy, the cheap guy. Adjust your price to where you get about 70% of your bids. And stop thinking about the cheap guy. It's to much thinking and stress. I have enough on my plate.

Maybe there should be nothing but the stickys on the free side to help limit a free education??

did an estimate for a commercial property .. about 5000 sqf... painting..carpeting..finish a couple of rooms in the basement ...new landscape, parking lot resealing 11000 sqf... re estoring entire property... I was cheap!!!!   $27 K. !!!!!!... some body got it for 15 K...What the Hell is wrong!!!!!!     are they even making money!!!!!

 Ive sen one company go down. Way too cheap! All he had was price. He's GONE!

These are Craigslist ads in my area. I do pressure washing too-just not on roofs.

Aug 19 - PAINTING, PRESSURE WASHING $15/HR. FLAT RATE - skilled trade services

Aug 18 - PAINTING PRESSURE WASHING $ 15/H FLAT RATE - skilled trade services

Aug 17 - PAINTING, PRESSURE WASHING $15/HR. FLAT RATE - skilled trade services

Aug 16 - PAINTING PRESSURE WASHING $ 15/H FLAT RATE - (CHARLOTTE , SARASOTA COUNTY) skilled trade services

Aug 13 - PAINTING PRESSURE WASHING $ 15/H FLAT RATE - (sarasota , charlotte countys) skilled trade services

Plus there are signs all over-put up a couple of weeks ago saying "Roofs Cleaned $139.00"

These guys won't make it in business-of course-themselves, but they will give homeowners a wrong mindframe on what they should expect to pay, before they move on to lawn mowing etc etc etc and lowball those guys with "Lawns Cut $15.00 Actually, those signs are all over too! Maybe the same guys??
