Bruce theres an upside to some hack screwing up someones roof. Just like theres an upside of peoples siding getting blown off by some hack pw. Theres definitely lemonade to make after someone screws up a roof.

Other than being a roofer or siding guy can't really think of one? It creates a stigma for any roof cleaner then you have to spend twice as much time convincing Mr. Smith who heard from Mrs. Jones that a roof cleaner screwed her roof up and she had to pay for a new roof for 5k.. to sell them that you are not like that guy and your different, blah.. blah blah. and so on. A normal estimate can be done pretty quick, but if you have these customers it adds more time to convince them it will be fine and they will be satisfied.
Its a lopsided question to vote whether you want premium members educating your competition. Of course no one wants this. What i dont like is people lurking or getting enough info to start then bailing on RCIA. But im not worried about these types. Their personalities are the types who do not follow thru, do things half azz, never finish what they start, and will muck things up enough to get the word out that your roof is something to be left to professionals. If you want unbiased dialogue on this issue, you cannot start the thread with such a loaded question. Cleaning roofs is the easy part. Ill say it again. Cleaning roofs is the easy part.
This is so true! Here is the Reality of all this guys, people ARE going to get into this business, one way or another. Most are not going to make it either! So, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Not very much time goes by we don't get "Hello Chris, Tom from North Tampa Roof Cleaning did our roof a few years ago, but he is out of business now, and said to call you" I have helped many of my local competitors, and some of them remember the good people at Apple Roof Cleaning if they don't make it.
You ARE going to have competitors guys, get used to it. In fact, in a virgin market, a competitor can even help you!

As a new member the guest side was very useful in helping me get started. Basics could be shown as a teaser to get people to join to find out more detailed into.

Sorry if my thoughts on Jeff got under your skin David.... Not to start anything up again I just think it makes good sense to keep smart people around like Jeff or A/C. Again just " my " thought's on a question asked.
Didn't get under my skin. Just don't know why you think he is so special that he shouldn't be treated like the rest of us. He is making good money. If he wants to be a premium member he can become one. He has said many many times that he will never become one.

I began doing roofs about a year ago and it seemed as if I could get any answer for free. It was called reading and alot of guys reminded me and many others of that quite often.
If it's worth anything, I feel anything to do with safety for the contractor or roof owner should be free game and the tips and tricks you all have developed to increase profits or productivity should be saved for the premium side.
Dave, It was just my opinon. It was just somthing I suggested or would do. I don't think Jeff is special or better then anyone...but I do think he's a nice guy. I will try to rephrase it. I think we should try and get Jeff to become a premium member, he is very experianced and full of useful information. I think his knowledge and experiance would surely be benifical to this board.
