Guys I know it's early in the season but I'm already feeling the effects of the sun. I am as tan now as I usually am in July. My wife has really been on me about protecting myself from the sun, so starting today I'm wearing SPF 50 ultra sweat proof while I'm out cleaning roofs and washing houses. I'm applying it to my face, neck, and arms. I can't imagine the kind of damage the sun is going to do to my skin if I don't start wearing it daily right now at the age of 29. I hope everyone is protecting themselves as well.

Brandon, you are 100% correct. I am the same age as you and I have already had spots removed on my head, neck and ears. I now where a gilligan hat every day and load up with sunscreen. The same goes for your eyes, it may be worse here in Florida than other states but a good pair of sun glasses are worth their weight in gold.

We wear 50spf spray on and reapply every few hours. Wear polarized sunglasses and a wide brim hat. I also recommend wearing a long sleeve white cotton shirt and I provide a Camelbak for them if they wish to wear it.
Nothing is more important than staying protected from the sun.
I have walked behind road crews laying hot mix asphalt in the middle of a Texas July, heat index of 111 and the mix at 300+..........and being observant the road crew workers(Mexican) all wear long sleeve shirts, and what I call large do-rags covering half the face and these guys never get hot.....nor have I seen them put sunscreen on....so yes cover as much as possible...and lots of water....

I learned it from the Arabs when I was in Iraq. It took me 6 months of killing myself in the heat before I listened to them and tried it. It changed the way I work outdoors. When in Rome. :)

Yes long sleeves are a must, white of course. We use the clima-cool shirts by Adidas. Buy them in bulk and have the logos added.
Where are you getting these & what are you paying?? If you don't mind me asking
Aaron, I have a few friends in the golf biz and they order them for me. I think they are in the area of $15 a shirt which is not cheap but the SH doesn't eat them um like cotton and you can wear them all day without sweating.

Ryan, that's a great idea. I've been wearing light gray t-shirts and my arms are DARK from above my elbow to my fingertips. I haven't had very good luck with white, as it seems to get super dirty fast (from my hose rubbing against my shirt after being drug through customers' yards etc). I may think about running long sleeve gray shirts...
By the way, love your logo.

I haven't been tan since 1996, since I was 14! Granted, I do not spend my days outside, but I do wear a light sunscreen all year long and a heavier one when I know I'll be outside all day. I enjoy my fresh face and I'd like to keep it that way. Now, with employees, I always remind them to play it safe - it is better than being sorry!
