 It could possibly be the sodium in it, especially since it has a 2 after it. 

Sodium (Na) is not salt, as some think.  Sodium chloride (NaCl) is salt.  Sodium itself is an alkaline earth metal and is HIGHLY reactive in water. 

I am not a chemist but my sister is a chemistry major and taught it also, so I consult with her alot.  She tried explaining it to me the other day, but it was too much info for my brain at once.  I do know that sodium in salt is not the same as normal sodium, which I don't exactly understand, but has something to do with available electrons...I think.  I can't explain anymore right now, my head is hurting already.

However I do know that if you mix the real sodium with water it goes BOOM!!

Been trying to find a place to get that stuff!!!biggrin

 Yes, and the drunk Kangaroo was cool looking. Jeff, when using calcium hypochlorite, you are aware that chit needs to SIT and soak for awhile, right ?  It can take hours for it to release it's chlorine in water. I am sure you know that.

 Jeff, ever tried softening the water ?

Calcium hypochlorite is a chemical formula similar to bleach. This chemical has sanitizing and disinfecting properties. Calcium hypochlorite is not completely water soluble, and works best in soft water. If added to hard water, the calcium hypochlorite may not fully absorb into the water.
