Patience is a virtue.
I spoke to the certification committee Chairman Saturday and he indicated it will be out by April 1st, as promised.
I have paid my $150.00, which is a no brainer, and I'll complete it once the materials are posted.
Bruce,
Could you please list the members of the cert committee and who is the chair. I heard that some of the pieces have changed???
Bill,
Lay back dude. Give them the space they didn't give us.
AC
AC;
The certification is the same as when you all started except Bill is no longer a member. Chris madden is the Chair still. They have everything ready to go and should be out before the week end.
Given there wasn't even committees submitted until February 1st of this year and formed a few weeks after that, they have made well of the time to put this together.
If the committee is still the same than I imagine Charlie would be included in that list?? Now I heard a talk shoe last week were Chris said that we will not recognize any power washing of roofs and that power washers are enemies of the RCIA, yet Charlie on the certification committee and an RCIA member power washes roofs.
When I was there we had discussed not banning power washers for lack of solid research on either side, but from the talk-shoe that seems to be out of the question.
Is Chris even aware of this?
If so how does Charlie feel about building a cert he is not allowed to have, is he aware of the talk shoe?
Phil: your right, thanks, except that it has only been 8 days. I do have serious questions though and the one above is one of them. Your experience is not as much a concern to me as the collective experience of the cert commitee. It will be a little hard to push a cert on a veteran like Chuck that comes from newbies and a power washer. It may not seem fair but that is how people react and it will hurt the number of certs that can be given to the most experienced.

Anyone that ruins roofs is the enemy of the RCIA. I have seen roofs ruined by applying straight 12.5 percent, and seeing clowns spray concrete tile roofs with acid to 'whiten them up'. There is no 'debate' for any experienced shingle roof cleaner as to the damage pressure washing causes. Non pressure chemical cleaning will clean a tile roof safer for the tiles because not as much or no walking on the roof tiles is needed. Thus, it is a superior method, not to mention it actually kills the algae vs scattering it everywhere.
RCIA is not about pressure washers, it is about roof cleaners. I have trained thousands of pressure washers to clean roofs w/o pressure. Few, if any, have ever returned to pressure washing roofs.
As far as Charles being on the Cert Committee, that's fine. Some people on the Cert Committee eat Fish and Liver too ( I Don't).
The questions on the RCIA Certification Test, the webinars, the post requirements, all are well and good. But FINAL RCIA Certification rests with me, and our Masters!
Bill, if I can speak frankly my friend, I think you may be making too much of this "Industry" thing. I know you made good friends with the PWNA Guys we went to dinner with at the Tampa Roundtable. I liked them too.
But, after I made them a sub forum, and extended an olive branch to them, they have copied us, and knocked us off! Now, Our "Own" AC's Roof Cleaning Class at Delux is being advertised with a PWNA and NOT an RCIA Roof Cleaning Certification from an organization headed by 3 pressure washers who pressure wash trucks, and clean kitchen exhausts!
Don't even get me going Bill about PWNA. It was started by Robert Hinderliter (Delux) who still has ties to it! Daryl Mrza of the PWNA is in bed with Deluxe as well. RCIA don't charge DELUX a freaking DIME to come over here and hawk their shit to our members, yet they turn around through PWNA and stab RCIA in the freaking back.
Bill, in case you haven't LOOKED, RCIA IS the freaking "Industry". The NCE Tampa Roundtable would have been a Ghost Town, w/o us there. The RCIA Forum is one of, if not THE Busiest "Industry" Forum there is. Are we an "org" ? Fuk NO, and don't want to be an "Org" either. Far too many "Org's" in this "Industry" are merely fronts for those with hidden agendas. RCIA Members spoke loud and clear, they did not want a vendor (AC) running things. And Bill, your allegiance to the PWNA has not won you any friends here, especially after they showed their true colors.
I spoke to Michael Hinderliter about AC's class, and Delux using PWNA Certification vs ours. What a Kick in the Face to me personally, since I practically lived on the old Delco (Delux) Board for years teaching roof cleaning for free, and sent all my students to them for supplies!
While I will not instigate anything out of respect to both my friend AC and my old friends at Delux, I do not believe RCIA Members are going to "jump for joy" at PWNA duplicating our roof cleaning certification concept, and our own AC teaching a class supporting a competing certification to theirs.
Will the arguing ever stop here? I never thought I'd see the day that Rcia and Bill Booze would be having problems. Lets fix this problem once and for all, guys like Bill are hard to come by!
If the committee is still the same than I imagine Charlie would be included in that list?? From what was said on the Talkshoe that Charlie had been absent from the last 3-4 meetings
Now I heard a talk shoe last week were Chris said that we will not recognize any power washing of roofs and that power washers are enemies of the RCIA, yet Charlie on the certification committee and an RCIA member power washes roofs.
Charlie was put on the committee and approved by whom I do not know, however, Chris T was never asked about Charlie being on the committee and you Bill brought it up at the cert meeting that you would have to call Chris T and let him know.
When I was there we had discussed not banning power washers for lack of solid research on either side, but from the talk-shoe that seems to be out of the question. That was Chris T's choice to not align with pressure washers, and being that it is attached to this forum I guess that would be his choosing, Right? But I think there were many RCIA members that agreed with Chris T otherwise they would not be here. No?
Is Chris even aware of this? Chris Madden was on the Talkshoe call.
If so how does Charlie feel about building a cert he is not allowed to have, is he aware of the talk shoe? No I am sure he is not aware and being that he missed 3-4 (?) meetings in the end, maybe he did know, you should probably ask Charlie and the rest of the committee.

Bill this cert committee was approved by the BOD which included you and now all of a sudden the committee choices are now bad ones? That is confusing. You were on board with all of these guys on the committee and now you are calling them newbies and a powerwasher. The BOD voted them in to do the job!
Maybe Chris Madden can further explain to the members what the changes entailed that you are seeing.
Take Care Kim R

I reached out my hand to my friend Bill Booze in the recent changes that have taken place at RCIA. I had planned for him to be one of our Masters, a final decision on who he tests gets certified or not. I encouraged him to start a roof cleaning school offering on site roof cleaning training that he would run. He was supposed to be the RCIA 'go to' guy between PWNA, and us.
I don't see any "titles" behind "my" name. Not that they have any meaning if they don't use them. It's that some people just like to talk and others like to get things done. Chris Tucker runs RCIA, why don't you ask him.
Your more then welcome to take over, whatever it is being taken over?
Chris, I have been busy. I have been meaning to get back to you.
I was told Deluxe was going to use the PWNA cert first and were talked into using ours instead. The funny thing is I have been on their cert committee for 6 months and we have had no meetings and I have seen no movement, yet it might be done?? I really don't know. Communication seems to be a consistent problem across the industry, at least that is something I have seen.
Kim: I just wanted to Know if Chris T. and Charlie both knew about each others stand. They were appointed volunteers not selected by the BOD. I don't have a problem with him being there I have a problem with him or Chris being left in the dark. But if he missed 3-4 meets I guess he moved on anyway.
That was really my biggest concern. I wanted more from the cert and maybe it will grow. My question in the first place came from being told by someone on the committee that they could have it finished in 15 minutes and I thought from Chris T. posts that it was already done. I will wait and see what you guys got, and I am glad there is still a committee.
For all the freedom of speech and needs of the many lines being thrown around I would appreciate the chance to express my opinions as well, seeing as I really don't very often. I am used to speaking from a view that represents more than myself. It is liberating to be able to express my personal concerns instead. There has been so much bashing etc. and I am not calling out or bashing anyone. I am a member and I have questions as well, Fair enough??
I see a good nights sleep did you well Bill. At first I wasn't going to add to this post but now I will chime in as it seems you've taken Phil's advice.
Charlie missed at least three meetings. I don't know what he really knows since the last meeting he came to he stayed for about 10 mins. I guess you'd have to ask Charlie what he's is aware of.
I responded to Ron's post about certification. Ron felt the need to reply to all other posts but never to mine. There is no one active on the committee, to my knowledge, that doesn't see things the same way. I think that post pretty much explains the way the majority of the membership feels, or at least those who are vocal.

Bill, fair enough. After my post, I felt like I should have said that via PM, but as we all tend to do sometimes, my fingers moved faster than my brain did. I apologize for that.
The certification committee as a majority, may be young in experience, but it is overseen by roof cleaners who have high levels of experience, so it wasn't like the "blind leading the blind." Every piece that was created for testing or education is approved by Chris Tucker, and everyone knows of his experience.
I will admit that I was also craving more from the certification itself, but I can see and understand the point of view from both sides. Being in the IT field, I see useless certifications all the time, but I don't see an RCIA certification as being useless. In IT, there is no such thing as being certified by one person, or one group. Sure, there are Microsoft Certifications, but they are all very specific, and there are many. In the cleaning industry, I see something like, "Phil Ackland Certified" and that seems to pass just fine with most. I know the IKECA is the big dog in Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning, but the PWNA uses Phil Ackland certification. Is this any different than the new RCIA certification?
The new RCIA Certification is certainly more sophisticated than it was before and is most likely going to continue to get more sophisticed, I would think. The RCIA may not be an org and it may never be an org, but does that mean the certification holds no weight or value in the industry? I still see growth, and value in the RCIA and its certification.
We'll see where the future takes us and I do appreciate everything you have done for the RCIA and the industry as a whole. Your efforts were not for nothing and I know you will do well wherever you reside.

It was my understanding Bill RCIA and PWNA were going to work together, and they were going to use our Cert ? Roof Cleaning has NOTHING to do with Power Washing, nothing at all. If I were a roof cleaner, I would not want the name pressure or power washer associated with me in any way, God forbid.
I havent read all of these looong posts, my attention span wont allow it. My question is ANY power washing of roofs allowed in yoru cert Chris? Low pressure, pitch witch style cleaning. Or is only Non pressure chemical treatments certifiable?

I dont have the time or the smarts Bruce. I cant even keep up with everything! lol!!
What Chris said earlier, Things are happening too fast for me. Things in this thread are first time me hearing it.
Bruce you are placing yourself in a position to be judged, being on the BOD. Or whatever is going on here?
Best wishes to ya Bro. I will speak less and listen more.

Let me ask you a question Scott, why would a non pressure cleaning contractor like yourself ask a question like that ? Do YOU pressure wash roofs, and are YOU in favor of it ?

Brother Mike:
I am not sure how I am placing myself in a position to be judge as there is no BOD, to my undrestanding, therefore nothing to be judged for? This is a forum and Chris Tucker is the BOD.
I get confused myself. LOL You need to keep speaking out, as do all others. At the end of the day it is about business and should stay that way. My two cents.

Mike, the ONLY "judgement" myself and all the RCIA Premium Members are concerned about who were at last evenings Talkshoe, is the judgement of our potential customers. RCIA is a NON Pressure roof cleaning organization. This is what we teach, and what we believe in. This is what we stand for, the NON Pressure Cleaning of Roofs. It has been said "If we don't stand for something, we will fall for anything".

That line comes from an Aaron Tippin song "You Got To Stand For Something." There is another line in the song that goes "you got to be your own man not a puppet on a string. Never comprise what's right and uphold your family name."
RCIA is a family and in keeping with the above quote we can't comprise our cleaning methods when we know they are right. Thank you Chris for taking the stand and not allowing the strings to be pulled. I'm with you as many others are.

No Chris, I don't do it, but I do know that its safe for roofs and that roofing manufacturers are OK with it. I wish I could say differently, but I just can't. High pressure is different, but these citrus based cleaner with a pitch witch style cleaning is fine.I've.
