The Algae sends out filaments (roots) that wrap around the shingles granules, as they expand and contract because of heat and moisture, these filaments pull on the granules gently, and over time shorten roof life!

Some more "Sales Training". Here is what WE say to a customer who only wants a partial roof cleaning. "Mr Shopper, we are dealing with a plant on your roof, this plant has 3 stages of growth. It starts out clear or opaque, kind of like a jellyfish. You can't see it. Then it turns green and we call it mildew. As it matures, it turns black, and we call it Algae or Black Mold."

That's some good training, Chris! I'll have to give that a shot next time because every call I have gotten this year starts with "I just want half of the roof cleaned." Only one has rejected a full roof cleaning though.

I tell partial roof customers that its on the other side of the roof too. Starts out clear untill it creates its own uv protection. I dont give a guarantee for partial roofs.
