You have me crackin' up once again, as usual Art. You may have missed your calling! I'm thinkin' a stand up roof cleanin' comic?
Seriously, re SEO, there has to be legit companies that focus on that with no black hat stuff, right? The question is, how to find them, and how to know which one is really the best out there. Suggestions anyone?
I feel your pain. The best person I know of for SEO is Chris Tucker, but I think he has a job. I've been looking around here and coming up empty as well.
I have seo companies calling all the time. The last guy was either blatantly lying to me or didn't know what he was talking about. I've been working on it myself a lot lately. I'm not sure but I think I'm in the top 5 for pressure washing and roof cleaning cleveland. A week or two ago I was on 17 for p.w. and page 7 for r.c.

Look guys, it really is all about content and RELEVANT back links. This forum is a great place to post, as are the roof cleaning forums at Cleaning Talk, The Grime Scene, UAMCC, and PWI. Also, roof cleaning blogs are really good, especially highly ranked ones with DO FOLLOW enabled. My Tampa Roof Cleaning Blog is a Blogspot Blog from Google that has been highly modified. By default, most Blogs are NO FOLLOW, meaning they do not give you a backlink. I went into the HTML and MADE this blog DO FOLLOW to try and give you guys some additional SEO help besides this forum, yet few have the vision to post on it! Go to the blog, and find where it says to comment. Then select Name/URL use your company name and keywords, and put in your website URL. ALL the posts on my blog are roof cleaning related, so it is just like posting here. It takes about 5 posts to get Google to notice you, same as on any forum.

I think your best SEO guy would be Chris Tucker. He definatly knows what works and what does not. Chris is always researching new ideas, and processes. The best part is, he knows the roof cleaning business and what and were to blog post, and get link backs etc. Chris Tucker is the guy I would pay to do my SEO.
CHRIS: So when are you going to start your SEO business?
Call Don Pelham and Associates. I know people who have used them (actually one of my customers who is Very successful referrred us to them.) They're expensive but supposed to be very very good. We just couldn't justify the costs since our SEO is already very good.

LOL, it is ALL I can do just to stay in the roof cleaning business here in Tampa lately! I am faced with a terrible local economy, and hundreds of price cutting local competitors who have ruined the roof cleaning business here in Tampa. But some basics for everyone are these. I would concentrate NOT on a website, but a BLOG instead! Out of the box, Wordpress is the best, as long a you host it somewhere. The free wordpress kind of sucks. Personally, I like Google Blogger (Blogspot), but you MUST have a dedicated URL, like roofcleaningvirginia, or roof-cleaning-virginia.com Your company name should be what you do, and where u do it, like Virginia Roof Cleaning, or Sanders Roof Cleaning Roanoake Virginia. Google blogger needs a little modification, but CAN be made to kick Wordpress Ass, and is MUCH easier to make Pretty, and hosting is both FAST and FREE. I pay Google 10 bucks a year for the URL roof-cleaning-tampa.com!!!!!!!!! Google Blogs are about as easy and idiot proof as it gets, and even have the mobile browser plug in that automatically adjusts for when it detects a smart phone, or mobile browser. With a Blog, you can target every posible keyword string, and do it all by yourself easily. Many web sites are difficult to add pages too, and many webmasters charge you every time you make a new web page. Plus, hosting companys will try and charge you if you mess with a website too much, but you can mess with a google blog 25 times a day, or more, and Google could care less! This Tampa Roof Cleaning Blog only costs me 10 bucks a YEAR! Plus, Google will even allow you to run ads on it, and make you some money, if ya want! To make a WordPress blog look like this requires a custome template, and seperate hosting, and to change most WP Templates, you need to know CSS or HTML. then, you will have the hosting company sometimes tell you to pay more money, or get the fuk off their servers! They have u by the ballz, because if you do not pay more money, they will sometimes throw you off the server, and mess up all your hard work with relevent backlinks!
Next thing after you have a Blog, is to feed it at least once a week by making posts aimed at every possible keyword in your area. Google Blogs are made to interface with the FREE Google Picasa picture albums, and posting pics or a picture slideshow on your blog is a piece of cake!
Refuse to listen to the bullchit that WordPress is THE way to go. yes, it is veryy good, but consider this ? You have a child, who are you more proud of, your OWN kid, or a neighbors child ? Google LOVES it's children guys, it s only "human" LOL As a vampire feeds on Blood, google Feeds on fresh, relevent content. That is WHY RCIA does so well, it has 800 people coming through here a day, and nearly 50 fresh posts. Blogs are constantly updated with FRESH CONTENT, webpages are not! A good Blog will kick the ever loving chit out of a static website, every time!
Lets take Ted Saunders Virginia Roof Cleaning Blog as an example ? Ted has great content, but he desperatly needs a dedicated URL ! He should look for a URL that would be roof-cleaning-virginia.com, or northernvirginiaroofcleaning.com , etc. Then, he needs to add some widgets to his blog, like blog followers, and RSS feed. The RSS Feed Widget is important, because then he can use this feed as a Sitemap. He must also verify his blog through Google, and I will be helping him do this. Once Ted adds the follow my blog widget, we will ALL follow him, and he will follow us. This makes Google have multiple orgasms Stay tuned to this thread guys, and if you do not have a Google Blog, GET BUSY

Thanks Chris et al. The more I learn about SEO, the more I realize what I don't know. In addition to the blog that Chris referenced (same one is in my signature) I've since started another one that is a sub domain of my main site. I started that one becuase I'd read it's best to have a blog in the same domain as your main web site? Beats me, but I've got one if it helps. And I have an RSS feed from it going to my main site as well - not sure if that really helps or not.
Due to Chris' advice above, as of 5 minutes ago, I just added another domain name to my collection Roof-cleaning-Virginia.Com. I realize now that the hypens won't hurt it. I didn't know that when I first started.
I can't say thanks enough for your generous offer to get me through some of this Chris. It can be a bit overwhelming at times. (BTW - for those wondering, I did take Mike's SEO class and I learned a lot there too.) You have a PM re the vmail you left for me.
And Mike/Gutterdog - you have a PR of 2 man - that's great!!
