i have a very tricky question. i pulled down my street and there was a guy pressure washing a shingle roof! i walked over and said hey how long u been on this roof doing this he said for 2 hrs. he said they are coming back tommorow to paint the roof. the house was going to be my picture house that i wanted to do my self. big black streaks and great after pictures if i did it. i didnt tell him that. SO here is where i need your HELP. i want to go talk the the owner of the house i know them from a long time ago. and say STOP. i will do the house for you so they dont screw up the roof. it is a faily new roof. i will even do the roof for cost. i hate to see this company screw up this roof. the compang is a roof repair company like patching and leak fixers. not a pro roof cleainng comapany.
so what do i do i cant sleep knowing they are comming tommorow to finish the hack job!!!!

If they already pressure washed it I'm sure the damage is done. I would not do any work on it now, for liability reasons. Depending how well you know the owners you may try talking them out of painting the roof. I have only ever seen one roof painted and it looked horrible.
the guy pressure washing it was staying like 1 foot or more away fron the roof he said he dosent get to close to blow off the granuals off the shingles. i will see if i can stop them from painting and inspect the roof tommorow.

I also think you're too late. I hate seeing other contractors on my street. Maybe get a testimonial letter from the homeowner saying they wish they would of went with you and how much you could of saved them.
ya i like that thinkig ACE. i actualy walked over and talked to the home owner. he said they had the roof paintied like 5 years ago and they are just going to repaint it. the shingals are like bowed up in every corrner. thanks alot guys i sucks fealing that the job was done wrong some many years ago.

Call them tonight and tell them the situation. Advise them to pay the company for the completed work. Offer to clean the rest of the roof for what is left over or do it for free.
I agree with Barry on the liability reasons. Last year I gave an estimate on a asphalt roof, long story short the husband came home and realized the wife hired the wrong company { power washer }. He called me, explained what happened. I stopped by to do the job but on inspection I saw the damage done by the power washer and explained I couldn't touch it now, he understood. Once those guys start It's a risk to finish, they could blame you.
I would agree your too late, maybe you can later send them some info, just mail it to them as for going by your too late if a pressure washer was used, the granites are gone and the life of the shingles has been removed.
Just to share a story I had almost the same thing happen. I actually was cleaning a roof across the street from a guy that was also cleaning a roof. My customer was friends with his customer, they was both stay home mom's. Of course It took me half the time to clean the roof as it did him plus he had multiple ladders lay across the top of the roof and he was pressure washing it with a 3000 psi pressure washer. I was wrapping up my equipment and his customer came over to talk to her friend (my customer) she asked why we cleaned differently and why I was not using a pressure washer and my time was cut in half. Plus why I did not have all those ladders all over my roof. I made the obvious points, explain why we cleaned the way we do plus I usually carry the TB with me, just to show the bold print about not using a pressure washer on your roof.
Of course she go's over and asked him to come down off the roof I continue to wrap up to leave and she is going off on this guy about all the granites in her gutters because she went up and looked in the gutter. Needless to say she was pissed, the other contractor came over and started shitz with me. Of course he keep his distance but ran his mouth. I laughed got in my truck and said have a good day, this guy comes up and opens my door. After that I got pissed and kicked him in the chest, nicely told him I will not do this in front of someone but would gladly grant him the chance to take more action down the road but I am glad he just walked away and I drove away. Point is Not much you can do but watch for other contractors.

You might be able to get a few good pics of what not to do though. I saw this house one day while driving down the road and couldnt pass up the opportunity.
Chad and Josh, Maybe we should look at this diferently. This is why we need to be better salesmen. Had you been able to get the job, the homeowners' roof would be clean, undamaged and you probably would have saved them some money. I'm not trying to pick on you because I normally just "leave" the estimate (when painting) figuring that they are going to get multiple bids. Thanks to AC's classes I'm definately going to be a lot pushier this summer. Are future customers need us to be.
Correct me if I'm wrong but your saying this is a shingle roof that was painted,WTF, and is curling,RED FLAG, they're going to paint it again???? This is a freakin disaster....I would not even consider looking at this piece of shiz!
i will take some close up picture if i can and post them i dont care for the roof anymore.

OFF TOPIC, but something to think about. The last line of your signature needs to be changed or deleted. To me it makes me think I am some sort of Guinea pig for you to learn off of. Maybe just remove the "trying" JMHO Gary
how about this. this thread can be deleted you you like it doesn't serve a purpose anymore. thanks

When I added Cleveland area roof ceaning in my signature I was surprised how often google picks it up. Whenever you post anything it is like an add for your company.
Did you ever go back to the job at a later date and view the other roof ? A contractor pressure washed a roof about a mile from me last year and there is mold beginning to grow on the north side by the chimney and under the downspout.

If this is a shingled roof and was in such bad condition it's being painted after it's pressure washed [ which of course is the worst possible thing you can do to an old shingled roof!]
Then, this roof is soon to be history and the painting of it is not only not going to save it, but it's tacky and unless they put 3 coats of elastomeric or similar roof coating, you will be able to see through it here and there and under most of the tabs. I have one down the street from me who painted his 1 coat. Talk about tacky!
I'm not a fancy pants, but hey, it's your home!
Anyway, at this point, I would stay completely out of it, if I were you.
I CERTAINLY wouldn't work on it after it was hit with a 3 -4 thousand pound pressure washer!
