removing oxidation from brick

I think it was at least 10 years ago that I had to remove the run off from the bricks right below the siding. I threw everything I had on my truck at it. I remember using a strong solution of Sodium Hydroxide and that didn't faze it. I don't remember what it was I used that finally did it. In the last 20 years 99.5% of my work in Va. was restoring decks. Everyone in Northern Va. has a deck and if they don't, they plan on getting one...lol
If I come across it again I will try Super Clean and see if it works.

Brick can be tough David,..so many different types and degree of porosity,(Is that a word)....

I will sometimes add hydroxide flakes to Purple Power to boost it,..makes it thick and nasty stuff.

Taginator has worked in the past for me. I have also used hydroflouric acid to clean brick. That was more to get rid of atmospheric pollution. Works great.

Yea Tom,..I have done historic brick with Diedrich products, and when dealing with years of grunge,.train exhaust, atmospheric dirt, etc,...an acid is the way to go. Never used Taginator,..but I've heard of it being used for graffiti,...so yea,..I could see that working.

Hydroflouric acid is serious nasty stuff in raw form. They say it softens your bones.

That's right Jeff. HF acid is so brutally toxic, I have heard of one guy who simply smelled a drum of 47% HF acid and he was sick for three days.

I've never used it before but I have heard, if you have to work with it keep it at 5% or below concentration.
