Our lift, very safe and an effective sales approach

I've had a number of questions about the bucket truck in prior posts.  Although I try to keep it in frame for most before and after photos, I have no pics of it 'in action' since the ground tech (i.e. the Warden) isn't much on camera ops...  Since I'm working on marketing and SEO in general over the winter, I did take some pics of it recently at full lift, extended etc, so thought I'd post one or two.

I mention the additional safety of having our own 42' hydraulic lift during nearly all customer consultations.  It goes over quite well with the clients.  Despite it's lengthy reach, this particular version does not have nor require outriggers so there's no concern about damaging asphalt driveways.

As an aside, I'm toying with the idea of having it outfitted with a 12v system so that the hydraulics can be powered via deep cell batteries vs solely off of the PTO.

If anyone has any questions or has considered getting one for their business, I'll be glad to share what I know and have learned.  Although it was the most significant part of our start up costs, it's been well worth it thus far.

There's one or two other companies on the forum that have them as well - they may or may not think otherwise.

That's pretty. I think I might have truck envy. I had shown my wife some pics of your truck and she asked me if it had outriggers. I"m glad you said it didn't have them 'cause I was unable to see any.

Thanks Art.  Lots of the 42 footers DO have outriggers.  It wouldn't be a show stopper to buy one with outriggers, but one would have to be very careful about putting pads down first.

This truck has a strut system of sorts under the frame that allows it to take the 'torque' of the lift extended to the side with no body roll.  It also takes turns at speed like a slot car as a result!

@Clyde - It's my every day work truck Clyde.  What I spend in extra diesel fuel, I'm pretty sure I make up for with my closing ratio.  There are quite a few 'up tight' folks around here, and worrying about a guy falling off their roof and suing them is not high in their agenda  LOL.  I needed a work truck anyway, so why not  wink.gif

@ Kim - Thanks Kim.  I suspect that with Randy's expertise, he shames Spiderman!  Who needs a bucket truck with him around?

BTW - it's nice to see some activity on the forum tonight!

He's getting old and besides what guy would not want to play with that!. In our brief stint of building houses, he insisted he needed a skid steer, so the budget was about 6k for it Ha!, by the time he was done he had a 21k machine, used it for 4 houses, then plowed the driveway with it for 2 winters. Lol

That's what I'm talking about!  Toys!  Tonka toys!  I'd take care of the entire subdivision's snow needs just for the opportunity to play with that from time to time!   All I have is a dang snow shovel for that..........

Very nice truck. It sets you apart like it would a vehicle wrap or other type of marketing items. Even if you never used it the customer knows your serious and a higher closing ratio and your prices could be justified. What kind of maintenance does it require?

Thank you.  An annual inspection at $320 for the lift. (Not mandatory unless you have/need an insulated lift)   The rest is just F450 diesel maintenance.  Some graphics (before and after photos and some basic verbiage) are coming soon, as is some signage on my daily driver thanks to words of wisdom from a fellow RCIA roof cleaner over lunch today.

Thanks bud.  I know someone that can install a lift on that F450 flatbed of yours...  I haven't done business with him, but I came VERY close to buying my truck from him..a  flatbed with a lift at that!  BTW - there's nothing in it for me if you want to know who/where he is.

Not much Clyde.  A visual check of all key nuts/bolts and an annual inspection if you so choose (for a non-insulated lift).

Thanks Ted,

I would love to, but I am investing in equipment upgrades, looking at an International 4700 LoPro at a Great deal......and considering AC's 4 day
consulting.
In 2 months I'll probably change my mind for my spring setup and ask for his name. LoL.....
Thank Man

Chris

Insulated - protects the person in the lift from electricity/high voltage in the event of contact.

Non-insulated - no/little protection from electricity in the event of contact.

Insulated lifts are largely used by electric companies working on high voltage lines.

I don't know Clyde, but I can put you in contact with someone that does that and other things with bucket trucks for a living.  Over the summer he had a 28ft lift (32 or 36 ft working height) separated from the truck for sale for 2k.   The purchase price did not include installation.  if you'd like his name/contact info I can send  it via PM.
