Cleaning a roof is simple especially a little standard ranch house, unless I missed something, I mean my customers are happy, the roof looks good, and I got Paid.

Now cleaning a large two story house gets a bit more challenging, but even that is simple.

So I would imagine even a huge mansion would be easy just do little at a time in sections.

Now to me Cleaning a huge tile roof would be a challenge.

On the other hand learning how to run a business is the hard part, but cleaning a roof is simple.

I honestly have no clue why anyone finds it difficult to clean a roof, all you gotta due is read this board and go do one.

Ditto. Exactly what I was thinking. Not rocket science.

It's not rocket science your right, but I have to say " roof cleaning " does have it's problems. What makes it easy is when you have taken every precaution, have the right crew and keep your head in the game through out the whole job. " roof cleaning " has to many "variables" or " Murphys law " that can ruin the job and your profit margine. That's what seperates you from the hacks, you doing the job right every time carefully! And Clyde I have changed my mind,go out and teach everyone in Fla. how to clean a roof.

I voted no, and here's my logic. In times past I have put my cards in all the paint stores in town ( this is when I worked for a roof cleaning/softwashing company, rather than owning the company). We actually had a decent referral business from painters up until about 2008.

When times began to get tough, and excess business dried up, I noticed more and more painters doing anything and everything they could to make $$$. Some of the larger contractors who used to use me for prep washes began doing their own washes, just to try keep their guys busy.

I feel at this point in the business climate you would be inviting unwelcome competition. These guys will get the idea they can do roof cleaning too. In turn they will take biz. away from you, possibly screw up roofs, and possibly give roof cleaning a bad name, IMHO.

oh so I get it? RCIA will just slowly grow and pick up a member here and there one at a time from across the country instead of large amounts in one particular area, Like Chris Tucker did? lol.

I know the truth if everyone had it their way they would never teach another sole to become a roof cleaner, yet it was so freely given to us by Chris Tucker which by the way seems to be doing quite well for him self.

Well I was just trying to help the best way I knew how, so please tell me how to do it then?

The competition thing is certainly an issue but why do them members of RCIA have to not only go out after roofs but start soliciting for new members? Every group or association I have ever belonged to never came after me. True, there might have been a few mentions in there but every membership has been me wanting to. I would rather see this place continue to grow as it is than to see a flood of new members for the sake of a membership fee. There are plenty on the guest side. Work on them. Offer them that recipe in mom's cookbook!

well I asure you their going to get all member they can get it's never going to stop unless they stop.

AC is quite an entrepreneur and he has invested in this whole softwash program so it's not going to stop.

It will only be a matter of time before you have more and more competition. I would say in 5 years roof cleaning will be like carpet cleaning, and if its not you most of us probably wont be doing well anyway.

I thought the whole reson why there is now a membership fee is because members did not like the fact that any one could come to the site get free info and want to start a roof cleaning business.

I have seen more than a few people come to this site looking to get their roof cleaned and instead decided to clean there own roof and start a roof cleaning business.

I would vote no unless you plan on making a profit form it. Why would you help give away your business?

You are exactly correct. Good level headed thinking.

Ron what is your thought about me going to paint stores and recruiting painters, after all they do power wash.

I got a lot of negative response about this idea, what do you think. I know how open minded you are.

Look at what Ron does. If it was up to him everyone in the world would train to be a roof cleaner or power washer.
