I just listened to the previous Gary and Jerry show and they discussed how RCIA is growing and to do the things they need to do they will need new paying members.

I'm considering in taking my rig to all the paint stores and promoting roof cleaning I will show them all the equipment and I can arrange for a individual work shops I will take them all out and show them how clean a roof.

You know something I'm personally going to take action right now contributing to RCIA.

Almost every Painter Power Washes.

Watch me guys, I'm going to bring more members. If anyone wants to help me call me.

Please vote to tell me if this is a great Idea or not

That idea would probably be good for the industry as a whole, but it would also generate a lot more competition for you as a businessman. Most painters do not make the kind of money vs time that is available thru roof cleaning, so you may be breeding a batch of low-ballers. If your business can stand the competition, go for it.

Clyde,

I agree with Gary that it will bring in more competition (not sure about them being lowballers) because I have some new competition in my area from painters that are offering roof cleaning now. They have an ad in one of the local papers from my area. At least they are doing it with no pressure, so I think they have been lurking here for awhile.

I was always told a little competition wont hurt no one, People are still not aware of roof cleaning so the more people that starts cleaning roofs the more public awareness.

there is a billion zillion land scapers out there and they all do good, their are pizza shops on each corner they all do good?

How are we to grow RCIA if were going to keep roof cleaning a secret? please tell me. We didnt know about it untill we found RCIA and now all the sudenly we dont want to share.

Like Chris always said the cat is out of the bag.

And AC in going to continue with his excursions and selling skids.

as a matter of fact one of the biggest suppliers Delco is going to be selling all AC products,

Personally I vote no,

If i have any vote her since I'm not a member as of yet.
Reason being more competition against Business as for yourself that knows how to clean a roof professionally.
I've been reading in this forum for about 3-4 month now and still learning everyday and preparing myself to do a job correctly before I put my foot on a ladder and claim I'm a professional roof cleaner.
Example: I am a professional pressure washer and been doing this for 10 years and done 50-60 log home for Lincoln log corp , and I have hired people that do professional pressure washing to clean log home with me side by side and they ruined the logs because of lack of information....

Cleaning Roof is it's own trade of profession on it's own and to have a bunch of people jumping into it without learning the process correctly from day one to the day they learn all they can, to start on there own..

Yes there are a lot of houses est... to spread around, but then there are 10 to 1 they are hacks that ruin a good business name.....

I hate hackers and low-ballers

My thoughts anyways

I agree with Gary.  Most of my business is painting.   I can make way more money pressure washing and roof cleaning than I  can painting.  I don't plan on giving up painting but I'm definitely going after other work more.

I'm now the newest paying member ( joined paying Prem. Meb. yesterday) and my vote,...not such a great idea. You did ask for a vote.

My mom taught us not to keep a “secret recipe “ if someone asked for one of her delicious food recipes she freely gave it saying someone had given it to her and it was gift to be shared.
She didn’t just send them out to everybody with the Christmas letter so to speak. So while your desire to bring more paying members to the RCIA is admirable via hitting all the painters in your town I think a more focused one on one would serve you the RCIA and those already in the business in your area better. I would say you have good out of the box thinking. JMHO.

There is pizza on every corner because people are constantly hungry. There are landscapers all over because grass keeps growing. There are alot of dirty roofs out there, but they don't generate a quick turn around. I vote no....why shoot yourself in the foot?

oh so I get it? RCIA will just slowly grow and pick up a member here and there one at a time from across the country instead of large amounts in one particular area, Like Chris Tucker did? lol.

I know the truth if everyone had it their way they would never teach another sole to become a roof cleaner, yet it was so freely given to us by Chris Tucker which by the way seems to be doing quite well for him self.

Well I was just trying to help the best way I knew how, so please tell me how to do it then?

I did not tell you not to do it. I simply pointed out that you would be creating a lot of competition for yourself and if your business could stand it to go for it. I think everyone else just agreed with that. There is no need to get nasty. We all are just trying to help.

Oh exuse me Gary I'm not getting nasty at all seriously not even sure why you thought that, I'm simply asking questions that's all, some unfavorable questions at that lol.

I just bet that no one would ever teach anyone in their area how to clean a roof, or probably even lead them to RCIA. To be honest with you I never have.

If that was the case, RCIA would be out of business and we could quit working on all the stuff we have going. Why do you think that? Why did you never lead anybody to RCIA? Were you afraid of competition?  Now you want to flood your NEW area with unexperienced roof cleaners?  I'm confused! Please enlighten me.
Gary

your probably not nearly as confused as me Gary lol. But seriously I have always kept secrets to my self and it has never got me any where, so now it's in my heart to contribute back to RCIA just like Chris Tucker has done, as simple as that. Or if it's not back to RCIA it can be just plain giving back.

Gary would you now I have been in Florida for 6 weeks and i have covered lots and lots of ground and I have yet not seen one roof cleaner, and I have never seen one roof cleaner in Jersey either, yet I have seen ton of dirty roofs, so with that being said yes their is lots and lots of room for new roof cleaners. Heck as a matter of fact I'm starting to think roof cleaning is dying, it seems as if a lot of members are not active any longer.
but I will end this subject, I guess it's a stupid one.

Before I quit. Some one please tell my why Chris Tucker has taught hundreds of roof cleaners in his back yard. And Please keep in mind he has probably taught us, and this is his Forum board, and Chris Tucker is still slamed with work.

Actually I would like to hear it from Chris Tucker him self why he has helped so many people, I always did want to know.

We did the house( a really special house) of a guy who owns a number (+10) of very well run car wash sites: "I said to him that i thought that it would boost business if there were other roof cleaners advertising in the area to create more awareness of what we do." He said don't go there; promote yourself: Don't invite competition. Advertise as much as u can.

Honest the majority of people are professionals in there own mind until proven.
Now that being said, Let me explain what this means.
This mean some one painted a room in there house (now that person now knows how to paint)
Is this person considered a professional painter? no! But he will take away some ones work away some day because he will claim he knows how to paint..and prob hack it up.
Show someone your roof equipment and tell them how to use it, is like reading instruction on how to build a house.
Fundamental instructions are not the same as hands on and learning all you can before going out and buying equipment and calling your self a pro roof cleaner over night...

Don't get me wrong! I'm not that far off from one of those guys, The difference is I'm here learning and asking in this forum and getting knowledge from you and others before I go out in the field and calling myself a pro over night.....

20% OUT OF 100 people will come to this forum and learn from RCIA ....then 40%-100 of people will just do it because they think they know all the information from one meeting (quick money)(hacks)
The other 40% are just out drinking beer....

learn,learn,learn
RCIA MOTTO Do a search before asking a question.

Love this place "man"

Cleaning a roof is simple especially a little standard ranch house, unless I missed something, I mean my customers are happy, the roof looks good, and I got Paid.

Now cleaning a large two story house gets a bit more challenging, but even that is simple.

So I would imagine even a huge mansion would be easy just do little at a time in sections.

Now to me Cleaning a huge tile roof would be a challenge.

On the other hand learning how to run a business is the hard part, but cleaning a roof is simple.

I honestly have no clue why anyone finds it difficult to clean a roof, all you gotta due is read this board and go do one.
