A Promising NEW Pump for Roof Cleaning ??

Guys, a LONG time ago, and old Florida Cracker Pump Guru told me "Boy, what you need is a Gear Pump" I looked, but Gear Pumps made out of Hastelloy are thousands of dollars, even stainless is expensive. By accident I discovered that BRONZE blows stainless away for all things chlorine, and costs far less !!!!!!!!

Think about it, a gear pumps has nothing to go wrong, and can be run dry!
No valves, springs, etc, etc, simplicity in itself. The pressure and flow is dictated by the clearances between the gears, and because they are metal, capable of higher pressure.

I bet if rinsed out, they can last a LONG time, but we need to see ?

Oberdorfer makes them, and most have electric motor options.
They will need a bypass back to your tank, and a regulator, no big deal really.
A small generator will run them, or plug into 117 VAC at the customers ?

Several advantages over air diapraghm pumps may  be had, if they  hold up, PRESSURE for one ! They do not pulse either, nor do they stall !!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy to fix in the field too, just slap a new gears into them, and boogie!

Larry Hinckley of Delux and I were working on this possible breakthrough, but he retired.

The ONLY question is what effect the chlorine will have on the pumps performance ?
The gears are THICK Bronze, and as long as it is rinsed out, may last a long time, cheap, quick,  and easy to fix if it don't!

IF these work like I THINK they will, they will make Air Diapraghm pumps OBSOLETE for roof cleaning!

This little guy is just one example

It is in the price range of the Fat Boy or Flojet Pentaflex, but will do 100 PSI all day long.
Plus, I really dont LIKE plastic pumps, the suns UV rays and vibration mess with em.

I told Lori about the bronze gear pumps, and we need to tell our other suppliers.

Bob from Pressure Tek needs to be told, and also any other distributor, including Russ, SunBrite, Envirospec, ALL of them.

Bob from Pressure Tek and I had some words awhile back, so he might hang up on me if I called him ?

But I greatly respect his mechanical ability, and we may need it.

Pllease look at the Oberdorfer Bronze gear Pumps, it would be cool if Bob, Lori's dad Rex, Sunbrite, Delux, or Russ can figure out a way to mount one of the Oberdorfer Bronze Gear Pumps on a Gas motor, either directly, or with a belt drive pulley.

Will someone PLEASE tell Bob, Russ, Southside, or any distributor that sells to us about my possible discovery ?

I am SICK of big bulky expensive air compressors, air pumps that stall, pulse, and degrade in performance when the chambers get dirty.

I think a small little skid with a gas motor may be THE way to go.

Chris, This looks like it could work, it comes with a 2 year warranty as well!
It would be interesting to find out if someone may use this already

I seriously doubt it, but Ya never know. The ONLY question is what effect will chlorine have on the bronze gears. Plenty use stainless pumps, and they last if they are rinsed, many of them.
Larry Hinckley of Deluxe was gonna build me one for testing, but he retired.
I used to buy my pumps from an AG Spray place, and saw some of the fertilizer guys using Gear Pumps. They sprayed great

Id be happy to do some R&D with you Chris on these pumps. Call Greg at Delux and have him get set up with them and have one shipped to me. We can assemble a demo system at my workshop for you to give holly heck to.

They would be an ideal softwashing, as well as roof cleaning pump because you would use an adjustable pressure regulator, and a bypass hose going back to the tank. This will keep the chemicals agitated, and will allow you to turn pressure down for close up softwashing.

Chris

Is there a risk of creating a suds fest with the bypass going back into the tank?  I would be concerned that the re-cycling of the surfactant would create more suds than the tank could handle.

LOL, well you could always offer a bubble bath for the kids biggrin
Agitation will allow for LESS Chemical use
