Travis; There is plenty of info available out there on the web relating to business plans. A business plan is the same regardless of the type business or industry. You just plug in the info you know and go from there. Any info I, or anybody else could offer would not work for you, since we are not next door neighbors. Info you use has to be region specifc. For example, I pay around $1.70 a gallon for SH. Can you buy it for that price? I doubt it, so that info will completely throw off you plan. Insurance rates? different. Tax rates? Different. Local regulations? Different. You starting to see what I'm talking about? Spend the winter gathering all your varibles and then write your plan. Gary
The very best advise I can give you is to contact the SBA and SCORE in your area. They will literally hold your hand and walk you through the whole process from start to finish. Best thing about it is that it costs you absolutely nothing!

Tottally the first step. The score guys can help. Come back when you can show us some expenses for your plan and we can help you organize some of it into daily goals, monthly profit and loss etc.

Very good questions Travis. You've come a long way in a short period of time, and I for one (many others too I'm sure) am cheerin' you on.
Re the annual annuity (I LIKE those words!), first read every post that Gary Boyd / RoofBright of Florida has posted on it. Search the word "maintenance" for starters, and look for his posts/replies there. He has this down to a science. Gary - perhaps some day a few of us could impose on you to join a conference call for a crash course/lessons learned from your actual experience. (My experience on this topic is from another industry, yet in theory, it should align nicely, I think)
(It seems there are two 'camps' on the RCIA when it comes to maintenance agreements - some are in favor, and some clearly are not. Keep this in mind should some additional replies not be supportive of annuities, ie revenue stream.)
The SBA and SCORE are THE place to go for professional guidance on small business unless you want to spend a bunch of money. No doubt about that. In the interim, if I can help you get a rough idea on what to expect for costs, insurance, materials, target variable margins, top line vs bottom line, etc, don't hesitate to give me a ring.
Two things to consider while you pursue the topics of your post:
Don't get analysis paralysis.....and
A good plan today is better than a great plan tomorrow.
Kick some a$$ Travis and continue to have an open mind.
