Washing a cold roof

Was at supply company today getting more SH. Its FRESH!!!! Just came in a few days ago!! Always been a good place to buy SH!  We always go outside for a cig and chat a min. When he's there. Always a blessing! I get al nervous n chit sometimes! Hes one of the gods in the PW industry!  Goood Dude! I know everyone there, and they know me, like family! I'll always buy from there!!!

I showed him the pics of the mansford roof I have to wash. Talked about temps. He said hes washed roofs without hot water down to 37 degrees or some chit like that?

He seen the certified on my truck. I hope that this doesnt slow anything down, but he mentioned some things about liability. The sauce and the cider.

(he pushing his products for roofs, and I understand that.) He said a delavan burns up in a half hour of use. I didnt say anything, I know better. He showed me what hes using for roofs. $2500 and you can have one too! Lil pricy, and a gas engine. The gas engine I can get from TSC for 300. The same one!!! The B&S looks cooler, I think. All black. Prob same size shaft. It's not a honda! Ya never know!!!

Never seen this pump before. bolted to the honda engine. Chit all I need is the pump and get the honda engine for 300, how much could that pump cost? Its set up for the chems we use on roofs he said. It's on the trailer we looked at. One day I'll have equipment like that.

Asked if I was still using the Delavan.  He said a Delavan couldnt get the soap up high enough to wash a roof. He aint seen some of the roofs I've done. I didnt say anything.

He was surprised that I'm still 5 galloning it. Like thats a bad thing. I waste very little, never more than 2 or 3 gallons. That usually gets resprayed on any possable touch ups. Hard to tell when heavy GCM turns brown. I didnt say anything.

My trailer is max 1,000 lbs, that aint much. I'm washing roofs with out pump ups, spraying wood faster, concrete too, Washing houses with well water I couldnt wash before. My pump cavitated! Sucked air, not good!!! Cant do it. Now I can!

His trailers ROCK!!!! His first trailer was prob just like mine 20 years ago.

Well any way, just passing on what I heard today about washing a cold roof. He said it can be done at 37 degrees, and he rinses, I asked, he said, he doesnt rinse with a roof broom or surface cleaner?

How does he get the moss and lichens off? He says he does?

His mix I understand is house wash mix and SH. The house wash mix is for the surficant. He doesnt use his roof wash mix, it contains hydroxide. The house wash mix includes, not in this order, hydroxide, butyl, water softener, surficant. I didnt say anything, I dont want to hurt his sales pitch. I really didnt. This has to be done gently.

He knows more about us than we know about him. I want him to stay succesfull, I know his family! His dad too! All of them awesome people!! And they like me too! Lots of fun when I'm there!!

I think next year he will come over to the RCIA way. Just give him time.

My experience, washing roofs, Moss and lichens dont come off that easy. Needs some pressure for immediate results. I've used the garden hose. What 85 at best psi? On moss it sometimes pulls granuels out in patches. Other roofs, wait on the rain, no granule loss.

Uhh, The guys here at the RCIA, Havent steered me wrong yet. I wont do ya that way neither.

Edit: The house wash mix, I'll never change! It gives you a lil heads up on a gutter scrub.
