Brett, Looks like your constricting your pump from pulling its potential and making it work harder than it should have too. I would cut the tip off and add a 45 or drill more holes at the bottom so you can empty the drum with less stress on the pump?
In a perfect world you would be adding a filter to it.
Talk to Univar and see what they charge for delivery. It may be more economical for you. If you go there you will also have to wait on them to fill your drum. At least I had to.
I called Univar and they were only .3 a gallon cheaper and an hour extra drive at 3.00 a gal for diesel. The guy I spoke to said he could do better if I was going to be buying more so I will just pay the local price and when spring comes I'll see which one wants to deal. Also, by then I hope to have a few empty drums!
Get a feel for your market over the winter and go to them in the spring and give them a forcast of what you will probably use. They did the same to me but after I told them 10-12 drums per month the price dropped dramaticly. Came pretty close to my prediction. Gary
Brett - I had someone, can't recall who...... strongly suggest I seek out a supplier in Harrisonburg. They didn't realize that it's about 100 miles from me. Might want to do some checking to see if it's a good lead for a better price? Harrisonburg is fairly close to you I believe? I don't remember the name of the supplier - sorry.
BTW - I pay $1.69 a gal here in the rat race of NOVA.
**edit** I found it. It was in a PM from Hoover... A little farther than Harrisonburg though. Ask for 'Wild Bill' so I'm told.

It was Gilmer Industries in Harrisonburg and he charged me 2.83 per gal. I figured it was just the way it would be for start up. I'll make it back and when this drum gets close to empty I'll call Wild Bill. I don't mind paying a little more for the first time but one dollar + compared to what I'm seeing here is a rip off and means they might not want my repeat business. I've been through this crap so many times over the years making new contacts doing remodeling. Maybe I should be used to it by now. BTW: So glad I left NOVA in '85 after living there from birth!
