Ideas for proposal
Permalink

Hello all, Could I get some thoughts on proposal details. I know some here, offer a
5yr warranty. That is a area that we are struggling with. That aside, what is the standard agreement as far as plants, grass, etc also, what about windows and siding. I know how critical the ground guy is with keeping everything watered. What do you guys  recommend to make sure I am not missing something when it comes to
unreasonable responsibility. Any thought would be appreciated.

Tarp plants that need it, Bag Downspouts, water, water, and more water..Try the search button if that doesn't help.

I appreciate your help. What I mean to ask is what wording are you using on your proposal as far as paying for plants damaged or burned grass and so on.It seems like it would be diffulcult to keep some damage no matter how small from occuring.

Always leave a property better than you found it. Any damage is to be repaired or replaced. Don't assume you should be allowed to mess some things up.

Any damage that wasn't there when you pulled up is your responsibility. That's what makes us professional roof cleaners- avoiding damage by taking all precautions, and taking responsibility if damage does occur. To protect yourself from the "blame game" take pictures of all area's that may be a concern before you start your set up. That way you have proof that the damage was already there.

Do you have General Liability Insurance? If not I strongly suggest you get it ASAP. I am caring a $2 million General Liability policy & I tell our customers we do everything to protect their property as if it was mine. If we kill any shrubs we will replace them so don't worry. I also carry a copy of our GL insurance policy which is through my Nationwise insurance agent & the local agent is listed if they want to call & varrify my policy. We also cover shrubs with plastic & water, water, water the root system good before we start to clean the roofs. I also offer to show before & after pictures along with having past customers who will give me a good recommendation if they want to check on our work.

I don't expect to sell every job we quote because a % of the public is always price shopping which I always say you get what you pay for. While being in business to make a profit & cover expenses our prices are competitive but not the cheapest. You must do every think possible with your ground man to protect the customers shrubs before & during your roof cleaning job.  You must sell yourself & your companys expertise.  Sucess breeds on sucess so don't give up.

Hope this help give you more confidence in selling your prospective customers.

I think a good way to do things is listen to the above comment first of all and always double check the property and look for any signs of disease on the shrubbery and dying plants when you estimate and then when you get there as well. I have seen some shrubs particularly little evergreen trees and bushes that have had an extreme amount of Lichen looking fungus growing on then and I have been getting smart in telling the customer aboout it because disease happens and you dont want it to be your wallet if it aint your fault.

But I am certainly not saying you wont kill plants.

Side note: If your are going to get certified I'm sure all of this info will be in the classes as there will probably be a landscape and ground control (to major Tom) section.

As of today RCIA is going to come out with some pre written proposals as.....wait a minute is this the paid section....no ....ok I will continue this over there under the post labled Proposal docs

I am reading this thread and just can't believe it. I know we all love to talk roof cleaning and show our knowledge but when are we going to stop giving information to " New guys " who are not even paid members? I mean the person who started this thread has a total of five post and two are in this thread! All his question are in the search button, its not like these people come on here read and look for clarification. I am not trying to be negative, but come on guys we got to stop holding these guys hands. We all get phone calls from people in other states asking questions......because they don't want to WORK for it! It just pains me to see it over and over again, maybe it's just me...........

Please understand that many people speak before they think or in this case read.

You are welcome and your questions will be answered. But you may want to ask them in the members only section.

The free area will get you limited responses.

Post count no longer matters for anything more than post count.
There are paid members on this site with low post counts. Some have been exterior cleaners and even roof cleaners for years. They are just "new" here.

The original poster may be new in all accounts but he is a paid member and should be treated with the same respect you'd like paid to you.

However your point about seraching and reading is valid.
A search for proposals will return very few responses.

I suggest moving this to the members only forum.

With all do respect Matthew,When someone on here starts posting, has half filled bio stating nothing of his experiance in any field,His first post starts with questions instead of an introduction about himself I just naturally took it as another " free loader " It is my fault that I didn't see he is a paid member,if he is I think thats fantastic. There are guys on here for a long time that won't donate. I don't want him not to feel welcomed, just would like to know who we are talking to I guess.

I get that Patrick.
No disrespect meant to you either.

There have been a lot of changes lately and sometimes we all miss a beat.
As the weeks progress and the forum gets better organized these things will shake themselves out. In the meantime, members should make new members feel welcome and veteran roof cleaners should point newbies into the right direction.

While we do want to stress that part of the certification process is "self study" we also want to do better than "use the search button, newb!".

We're all in this together and we'll all learn as we go.

Well put Matt, I second that. Things are moving really quick behind closed doors and If I made anyone feel unwelcome I apologize, that is not my motive.

Just trying to have  some fun. Everyone on here who is a guest is going to join, it's a no brainer. This is really a for members type or organization and the leaps and bounds already made is awesome. Although they might not all be public knowledge yet they will be. We are all going to benifit big time from this, and for a measly $100 right now, why wait? It is kind of silly. Putting a signature at the end of your name and having one post boosts your website and is worth something. Posting a hundred in the paid section will bring you in business but this isn't just a marketing tool anymore.

New News is coming soon.
