Well, I was unhappy with 1and1.com, so I switched to bluehost.com for hosting and decided to try word press for content management. I'm happy with this simplified website, but I wanted to see what others thought.
For SEO you will do much better to change your title tag.
For content: Way too much, "we, us, our" on the front page. People do not care bout you or your company. We all like to tell ourselves they do but they care only about what is in it for them. Try to focus on some customer benefits to entice readers to stay on the page. The old analogy is that if I hired you to make me a hole in a door, I would care only that the hole was going to be done quickly, efficiently and within my budget. How you get to that point doesn't interest me (or your customers).
I do deck restorations. People don't care about having a deck restored they care about having no splinters so their children have a safe area to play. they care about saving them money over replacement cost. They want to be wow'd by beauty, not low pressure washing like so many believe. They want to envision barbecues and an extension of living space.

I like the simplicity, but I think you should have some photos on all the pages. I don't know that a customer is going to automatically understand what it is you do. I know you have the gallery, but customers may not stick around long enoug to see it.

I bought the expand2web small business by Don Campbell and it is great for building a web page, with expand2web I built the site by myself and Don Campbell is great to talk to and have video's to guide you. He recommends Bluehost, which I have and wordpress is what he uses for expand2web. They are great. Has built in SEO also. Widgets for each page.
Phil, Learn the rule of 72... if your having problems with your banner, create it in a higher dpi. Multiply your banner size by 2 or 3 and get it like you want it. Then save it at 72dpi, this should help with your pixel problem. Be sure to "save as" a different file name than your original images. You can always make images smaller, but you can't make images larger without distorting the pixels. (jpeg, gif, bmt) Don't mistake these file types for drawings like (tif, esp, ai) Images are made up of pixels, drawings are made up of lines. Most of the www still uses jpegs and gifs as a standard file type and the the higher the dpi the longer the image will take to load on a viewer's computer. 72 is still the best practice to follow when formatting images for use on the web.
Also, your roof-cleaning and house-washing pics didn't show up when I was brousing your site. Great start on the site...
Weird, my logo shows up in firefox, doesn't show up in IE, but it shows that it is trying to load. For some reason, that file is huge, compared to everything else, so maybe it is timing out.
I have got some work to do on this thing!
