Search and search and there is no real definition of what it takes to become Certified. I have read many posts stating that someone has almost made it but after a month here, I'm unsure of the process. To be honest, I'm not too concerned as I know the day will come when I will make it to that point and I'm really in no hurry as I have the winter months to get through. The reason I ask is the post today from the guy from TX.

I know from my reading in the past month that the certification is going through some changes. Isn't the certification process something that should be posted, front page so that all can see? Good for the lurkers, customers/clients and of course, the newbies!

Check out this link. As of now the RCIA has suspended doing certs until we can do it right. We have formed a cert comittee and they are studying how we should reintroduce certification.

Hope this helps.

Just finished reading all the posts under this topic. I have seen a lot a great suggestions in here and I am very pleased with the progress I have seen with RCIA in only a month as a premium member.

Kudos to those of you that helped out Phil! Just shows the greatness of both our leaders and our members alike. Fellowship amongst men is the greatest of tools!

I saw this on another forum and thought it was a good idea to think about.

NEW to board,,, access to this area.

250 posts and time on board, access to another area. Posts are reviewed before access is given.

500 posts and time on board with review and full privileges are bestowed.

Hacks and wannabees don't make it. These boards are free and full of detailed technical info. You just have to prove you are a full blown tech to get in. Not just trying to steal info.

I was thinking to myself about another thing we could do as well. What about blocking the ability to ad a link to your company in your signature without being a paid member?

I was thinking the same thing.  Have a cheap membership to link.  Another membership topost and or advertise your jobs done.  Then another price for a listing in the certified section.

(Sorry to interrupt the current topic)

For the Board's consideration:

Gentlemen,

I suggest that we do away with the term contractor whenever it's associated with a RICA roof cleaner, or the RCIA in general.   For example, I was just on the new web site again (which is awesome) and see reference to RCIA Roof Cleaning Contractor. (This phrase is in numerous places, I just happened to see it on the new site which sparked the thought.)

Let's be known as RCIA Roof Cleaning Professionals. It may sound trivial to some, but it casts us all in a different light; a better light.

"Contact the RCIA certified Roof Cleaning Professional in your city for a prompt and courteous consultation"

Have a nice ring to it?

Respectfully,
Ted

Pondering...., still pondering.... yawn.gif  Maybe we can just be roof cleaning professional contractors! I just don't know. As you said Ted... it's a play on words. I guess it's my 34 years of being a contractor. There are many different places for me to interject that I'm different from the rest and professional in my work environment. Maybe you have something... sometimes this brain has to have a little more time to absorbe (the cells are a little foggy!) confuse.gif

Also the word contractor implies Licensing......we want to stay away from the government wanting to make us do that for now.
