alot of people on here use in the shade and have enough trouble remembering there passwords i know i do.

I thought "In the Shade" was an area for members to go and post items that wasn't for public dissemination. As our organization matures there should be areas accessable only by paid members. "In the Shade" should be the 1st area closed.

It's actually only password protected so that it doesn't mess with our SEO. It's currently meant to be available to all forum posters that want to see it. It is also meant to be not easily accessible by our potential customers,(pretty much what Charles said) but the password is no secret.

New areas are to be created for the paid members, and remember paid membership is about much more than the forum.

It doesn't really make much sense to change it and then post it for all members to be able to access it. Unless someone is going to PM each and every member and give them the new one...I say just leave it as it is right now.

Just a thought...PWI has an Alpha Gamma section that is available to all registered members and is NOT crawled by SEO bots and lurkers are not able to view. Is there any way to just have it set up that way?

I don't know. Activeboard is kinda limited compared to PWI's forum software.

I have too many passwords to keep up with already. Are we really that high security that we have to constantly change our passwords just in the name of being secure? I am against changing the password.

If the password is changed it should be after the Nov 1 deadline for paid members. Then only the paid members get the password.

I feel while RCIA is continuing to mature & grow we should also upgrade our systems. Having RCIA as a password is so basic it is like not having a password.

Many agree that the future of RCIA is two fold. One for the industry (contractors & vendors). Second for prospective customers (homeowners). I believe in cleaning up some areas of this great forum that prospective customers (homeowners) should not be able to access & read certain threads. Remember there are some people who are very computer savey & know how to muniplate systems.

In changing the password all current paid members will just have to write the new passwords down. Like many password protected programs if you forgot it & correctly answer a personal question if forgotten & still a current paid member the current password would be emailed to your own personal email address. This way you can still get the password if a person lost their cheat sheet of forgot the password.

Doing this keeps people being a current paid member if they want to access industry information from each other.
