If you've ever wondered am I doing the right thing getting involved with this business let me tell you don't give it another thought! I've owned a lot of small businesses in my time, I'm pushing 50, and I have never found one that was quite as satisfying as roof cleaning and exterior softwash. I've been working in neighborhoods since I was 7 years old. The last 2 jobs I have recieved over $150 just in tips alone! I got one yesterday that was $100, and I charged the customer a premium for my services. Don't sell yourself short. Learn this trade and you will be able to feed your family well.
Also don't worry about competition I believe people choose you because they like you and the way you present yourself. Hang in there it gets better and better the longer your in.

Mike, your absolutely right. This is a very satisfying and rewarding profession. I told AC, when we were talking the other day I would post how much I use what I have learned from him and others on this site and how it all works if you use it. I saw your post Mike and thought this would be a good time to comment. I had a job to do today but I can’t do it because it is raining where the job is. I was in South Carolina  and took all 4 of AC’s classes. I have to tell you, what he teaches works. He told us not to chase work, let the jobs come to us and raise our prices. So when I got home, I did just that. I got my bags, rocks and news letters and went for a drive. ( people who have done this know what I’m talking about) if you don’t, you need to take AC’s marketing class. or keep reading. Two days later I got a call, they said they found my news letter in a bag with rocks in the driveway and they would like an estimate. I charged the owner $1,000.00 for a roof and house wash which I would be doing today but it is raining. I would have charged around $400.00 before AC's class. So now that it is raining, it is the perfect time to get my bags, rocks and news letters and take a drive. Every time I go out I get at the least, one job. I say to you newbie’s, read, read and re-read take AC’s classes when he has them, use the things you learn from this site and you too will have a very satisfying and rewarding profession.
Another thing I was told, do alittle at a time. So now, I only put out 30 or so news letters. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks Glen! I've also done the same thing in fact I have'nt had to put out more than 300 this summer/fall. Been as busy as I want to be. I haven't been able to take any of AC courses but after much reading I've been able to figure out some of the nuts and bolts to this business. Have a great week.

Thanks for the Thread...Good to have alittle encouragement :)I havn't had any buss yet but I got an ad in the paper, And i've been walking my butt off putting out flyers...hopefully people will start calling...it's unheard of here so. I'm Really timid person by nature but It gets alittle easier everytime I actually talk to someone instead of just putting a flyer on the door. I love to work but the business part i'm still learning.

Roof cleaning is a hard sell.

At a supply company today, diff service, chillin with the guys at the lunch table, It was lunch time. One guy said roof cleaning is starting to be thought about. The manager asked me if I was still doing roof cleanings.
