RE: Telling customers what the mix is made of

I've done way more roofs than last year!!! Some people smell the SH. I say "yea there some of that in there too". I use fragrance. Maybe I should up the cap fulls. Other people smell it and say that smells clean! So they like the smell. Others ask what is my mix, and I tell them If I told ya I have to killya!! lol! I'm not training any competition here!!!! lol!!! And they understand! I have NOT lost a job yet. They just want a clean roof, and no harm to plants and animals.

I find most of our customers if they ask are just curious. Some can smell the odor depending on humidity or if there is a slight breeze or not. Also, I tell them it is part of the Wizard's special potion mix that is approved by the shingle manufacturers for our industry. At that they are satisfied as long as we treat the algae, mildew or fungus problem on their roofs. Also, I don't think it is necessary or smart business to tell the customer everything about what is in our mix. The correct mix is a big part of why the homeowner knows we are a professional in our industry in treating / cleaning roofs.

I am currently working with a local chemist on a new surfactant. It is too costly for Lori to ship it & our local Unvar cost the same as Lori?

Ammonyx-lo is 30 % and the new stuff I am going to try on Saturday is 100 %... I received my free sample of Dwell Gel in the mail today. I will keep you posted.

Great Post! Respectfully, I did not even receive a request for quotation. We are also AGGRESSIVELY looking for a MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE surfactant.

We told you we would find a cheaper fragrance and we did! We have Apple Juice for $25 a gallon! That is a lot less than the others out there. You use about the same amount too.

Ok here's the first of my at least 100 posts.

Tell them the truth! We have a guy around here that bashes the ARMA method and makes bleach sound like its radioactive.

Tell them what it is with confidence and educate them. We don't use bleach, they sell that in grocery stores and it has numerous additives and dyes which are not necessary for our process.

We use sodium hypochlorite, more commonly reffered to as liquid chlorine. If you brushed your teeth today the water you used had sodium hypochlorite in it, when used by professionals it's perfectly safe.

Hello all,
my first post. Like so many of you, we tell them that we use SH. They usually just nod there head and are very happy with the results.
We have run into some smell issues when we do back patios, especially ones with overhangs. Most of the time the clients are not home, so the smell usually dissipates by the time they get home. So far we had only one call on the smell lingering (That job the patio had heavy mold on it). Thanks to PWP's last post, we are going to try out the apple sauce fragrance and see how that works.
