Throwing postcards

We spent the weekend delivering 1200 postcards in bags with a rock to local neighborhoods with dirty roofs. This morning I got my first call inquiring about roof cleaning and booked an estimate. I am hoping to set quite a few more estimates and secure some work. I think this is a great way to spread my name thru the community.

Sorry still don't like the idea of littering. Your going to p--s off people and that's not good. If your going to throw rocks why not just walk up to the door and get some face time. Yes you may not be able to get as many done in a weekend but I guarantee you the ones you actually talk to will be better leads.

I am glad it worked for you Eric. The fliers with rocks are most effective in neighborhoods near a job. Putting out 1200 fliers a day is hard to do and will eat all your time, but we have all done it. If your out on a Saturday knocking on doors can really produce more jobs once your comfortable with it.

Doug, regardless of your personal preference, the rock flyers work. They generate leads and more often than not, they are good leads.

I used to pass out 2 hundred flyers a day and be WORN OUT from the walking and talking and never once closed a deal. Now We can throw 200 in an hour or so a few times a week and generate a 8-10 leads, with one or two calls saying not to throw ads in the driveway.

Bottom line is that they work, and they work well.

Kim,

We ordered our cards on line 2 sided full color, UV coating, high gloss, 5000 for $95.00 and we are generating a lot of leads from them.

Since you drive to and from the job might as well toss out some flyers. wink

We did get one not so happy homeowner but the benefits out weight the disgruntled miserable poor unhappy sole so we keep tossing... he'll come around or it will cost him thousands for a new roof.  biggrin

Scott, do you really get 8-10 leads from 200 flyers? That's a pretty strong response!

What do you say to the people complaining about ads in driveway?

Thanks. -Clay

No no no, thats when we throw 200 a day a few times a week. Say maybe 4 times a week, so 800 flyers, 8 leads.....Sometimes it no leads, sometimes its more. Repition is the key.

So, about 1% just like everything else. I wonder what it would take to get a 5 or 10% response. Hmmm....

This is not littering its the same thing as a newspaper delivery. So every news paper that getsdelivered is littering. Come on open your eyes and try to see just a new way or a twist on doing things.

Sorry newspapers were ordered, the homeowner is not asking you to throw stuff in there yard so they have to pick it up.  Everybody does things different and this is not our way of doing it.  We like actual face time with the customer.  If someone throws stuff out in the neighborhoods we work in you would have the police at your doors giving you a LITTERING FINE.  Be carefull guys.

It can't be considered littering on private land, only state or federal. And no not all newspapers are ordered. I get one on my driveway everyweek that I didn't order. I just pick it up and throw it away.

Bob, good price. I just went to that link and got quoted $209 for 5000 printed 5.5 X 8.5. What size were your postcards?

I think he is using 4x6. The 5.5x8.5 seem to be a nice size but probably a little too big for throwing.

Eric

1200 in a weekend thats great. How many hours did you put in a day and how many miles did you drive.

Aroud here there are maybe one or two houses per block that need cleaning, if that. Just wondering how many houses per block you find that need cleaning?

Pete

Nice job on the post cards.  Do you really beat all your competitions prices regardless of price.  How low are you willing to go for high quality service and your time on the job?  We have some serious low ballers in our area.  We don't even consider dropping our prices to their level.  It seems like this philosophy can back fire and undermine the value of what RCIA members do.  Our company  is not the cheapest or the most expensive.  We understand that some people only care about price.  We do not typically want the client that only cares about money vs. quality work.  We do our best to use a market strategy of fair price for quality work.  With that said, I can definitely see how your strategy is going to generate many more calls and hopefully your competition are not offering similar services for a very low price.  Good work....
