My First 2 Roof Cleanings
Permalink

The brown house is mine and as you can tell the roof was nasty and came out descent in my opinion.  The second house is the inlaws.  I didn't rinse my house and noticed a film.  I trusted you guys saying the rain would take care of it and after the first rain it looked amazing!  I just cleaned the inlaws house and it hasn't rained yet.  But, the roof still looks great.  Sorry if the pics aren't very good.  I'll have to work on my picture taking skills.  So, here is my start.

Cleaning Mix: 20ga sh,  1qt Hang Tite,  3/4 gal ISO,  35gal h2o.

Good work Craig. The pics of your house are your advertisement pictures! Stick a sign in your yard! Did you get your pump or did you do it the way we talked about?

Anyways, looks great! You do nice work

I picked up a Delavan 5830 here at Rural King to start with.  Using a standard garden nozzle spray with 8 settings.  This setup was easy to control runoff for a beginner like me.  As for tanks I used 55 gal barrels for now.  Got the job done!

I didn't realize how bad my roof was until I put up this post!  Your right Dwayne.  The way it cleaned up with before and after pics will look good in a brochure.

Looks great! I shot my first roof last year and I was scared to death of the results, but man it turned out great. I followed every step these guys teach on here, and it was like magic. Good luck to ya.

Thanks.  I shot my house from the ladder and walked my inlaws.  The little 3 gpm Delavan had a hard time reaching the peak on my house but it had just enough power.

Nice job Craig!

If you want some tips on picture taking skills, look up a post by Mike Sullivan (Pressure Washing Pro). He made a great post on taking professional pictures. Trust me when I tell you that it makes all the difference in dramatic before and after shots. Dramatic before and after shots really sell your services on a web site or portfolio that you show to customers.

What is the 5830? Is it a pump with less chemical compatible valves/seals ect?

I rinsed it for about 15 to 20 min.  I stuck a garden hose in a 5 gal bucket and turned the water on and let the pump run.  Primative but effective.

It's a 3 gpm.  After I bought it i noticed the date of manufacture.  12/2006.  So it has sat on the shelf at the store for quite a while.  Works fine although I could have gotten a 5850 for 20 bucks more if I had been willing to wait a couple days.

looks great. good job. I got a fat boy pump and a 5850 when I started, 5850 only lasted a month, but the fat boy is still running strong. I also use 50 gal drums they work great for what I have done this yr. I kinda wish I had a bigger set up the last month cause work has been good. I will have a tank next spring. Again good job!
