Tough Roof... Almost Vertical Roofing ... Limited Gutters.... Plenty of Landscaping
Permalink

This stained roof was challenging.  Plenty of landscaping with vertical roofing ... and plenty of lichen.... Between using a lower SH to water mix, extra ammonyx lo to keep the mix on the shingles, light coats (2 applications), tarping and heavy pre and post rinsing, I'm hoping for limited damage to the plants and grass.

Looks very challenging. I haven't had to do one that steep yet but the way you described you process seems good. Esp. the light coats. Since I got my All-Flo I'm working with different tips for light spraying around the edges to control runoff. What pump and tips are you using?

Maybe some others could chim in on proper tips for light spraying.

We have done many, many of these mansford roofs. Through trial and error, I have found the best way to spray these is from the ground, using no ladder. If you spray from the top, you will get too much overspray on the surrounding plantscape.

Actually I was thinking about using my 10 step ladder to pull me away from the surface a little. Thats how I do most of my homes. Just thought I'd add my two cents.

I agree.  We lightly sprayed the verticle sides from the ground to minimize excessive run off, but used the ladder for the upper peak (which we walked because it is relatively a no slope roof).  We also used the ladder to spray the small areas above the dormer windows.

I did a townhouse similiar to this. Its on the home page on gutterdogs. I did this about a year before I found the RCIA. Funny story here. I almost washed the wrong townhouse!!! Took the info, did the estimate, set up the day, went to the wrong TH. She was supposed to be home. I called and went to the right townhouse! Now I gotta wash a roof too? I wasnt prepared. I dont remember how I pulled it off. But I did. Nowhere near the quality I do now!
