Yes but first clicks still cost.

I think this question was retorical, but yes, I suppose they could do this, but they would not need a staff of people to do it, there are programs available that people use to cloak their IP, they can even give you a new IP every 5 minutes.
Bad people will always find workarounds sadly.

 

I used it years back before I was in the organic listings.  The ROI was worth it to me @ the time, but once my organic listing got up there, I quit adwords.

I have a stack of like 6 $100 credits for adwords, so I thought I'd set up another campaign alongside my organic listings.... why not right?

I'm with you though, once my credits run out, I most likely won't continue.
