My local chemical supplier told me that the Macat AO-14 that they can get is the same thing as Myrastamine Oxide.  Does anyone know if this is correct?  Seems to me that if it was the same thing, it would be called Myrastamine Oxide confuse

Myristyl Dimethylamine Oxide

MACAT AO-14 is a 30% active myristyl (C14) dimethylamine oxide in water. AO-14 provides viscosity control, and is an outstanding foam booster and grease cutter that is chlorine and acid stable.

The exceptional quality of MACAT AO-14 allows for use in a wide range of markets and applications. In Personal Care, AO-14 is used as a conditioning ingredient in creams and conditioners, and as a foam booster in shampoos. Quality Dishwash Detergents utilize AO-14 for its grease cutting and rinsing performance. HI&I Cleaners formulations commonly economically employ AO-14 for detergency, foam boosting and viscosity control. Combine viscosity building properties with exceptional hypochlorite stability for use in Drain Openers and Cleaners.

MACAT AO-14 is biodegradable, and contains no solvents or VOCs. AO-14 is an efficient lipid solubilizer and at 2.5% active, causes minimal eye irritation.

Very informative. All of these ingredients are used in cosmetics and household cleaners. They are all Dimethylamine oxide formulations, we still use Lauramine and bought it at 31% just like amonyx lo by Steppan under a different label.  All these guys have a brand name for their products even the ones that are just raw chemicals with water added.

*'Trade Name Description CTFA Name Physical Form Percent Active Properties Applications and Properties
Macat AO-10 Decyl Dimethyl Amine Oxide Decylamine Oxide Liquid 29.0-31.0 Wetting, Foaming,
Foam Stabilization,
Grease Emulsifier
& Hydrotrope
Macat AO-12 Lauryl Dimethyl Amine Oxide Lauramine Oxide Liquid 29.0-31.0 Wetting, Foaming,
Foam Stabilization
& Grease Emulsifier
Macat AO-14 Myristyl Dimethyl Amine Oxide Myristamine Oxide Liquid 29.0-31.0 Wetting, Foaming

Macat AO-16 Cetyl Dimethyl Amine Oxide Cetamine Oxide Liquid/Paste 29.0-31.0 Conditioner &

Macat AO-18 Stearyl Dimethyl Amine Oxide Stearamine Oxide Paste 24.5-26.5 Conditioner,
Emulsifier
& Thickener
Amine oxides can be formulated
with anionic, nonionic and
cationic products and are mildly
cationic under acidic conditions.
They are used in a wide variety
of cosmetic, household and
janitorial products for their foam
stabilizing and viscosity building
properties. The lower alkyl
distribution provide foam
boosting and stabilization. Those
of a higher molecular weight
provide definite softness and
conditioning “feel”. They develop
a wide range of viscosities with
or without the use of inorganic
builders. They are good wetting
agents in concentrated
electrolyte solutions.

I am glad too, because shipping can be expensive. Remember, it don't take much of it!
