Hey guys , There is a roof cleaning outfit here locally that cleans the roof and guarantees that algae won't come back for 5 years-and it seems to work-some customers are asking me for that kind of guarantee.What could they be using ,any ideas? Thanks Mike

What they are most likley using is savvy marketing. Did you collect evidence to see if it really lasts five years??

Do you have any info on the terms of the waranty? I wonder if it's a pro-rated program.... something like if the roof needs to be cleaned again within the 5 yr period, the owner will pay a pro-rated amount based on the length of time since the initial service.  For example, if algae starts to show up 3 years down the road (60% of the waranty period has been used), the owner pays 60% of the price of the roof clean. Chances are, that they will only spot clean the areas that have streaks.

Like Bill said, it's probably just savy marketing.

Well what I meant by it seems to be working is that I recently cleeaned a roof that had gone four years without needing cleaning, and saw another today that has gone two years and has no streaks at all...

Yes Scott at Confident Roof Cleaning does offer a 5 year warranty.  I have never seen a roof that was not a little dirty after 3-4 years let alone 5...  Scott tell us your secret.

Dwayne, when are you arriving in Tampa?

I am not sure if I am renting a car yet, I need to call the Crowne Plaza and see if they have a shuttle.

I think that I will only need a vehicle to go eat and visit a vendor a few times.

I will be driving in that morning and go straight to the event. After that I will go to the Hotel. They do offer a shuttle if I read it correctly.

I will more than likely take the shuttle Sat morning as well. I have room for you in the truck, I plan on going by and visiting Lori, dinner and the like..

I may even come down the night before the convention, not sure yet...

I have seen roofs last that long. It could be a lot of contributing factors from humidity to mix. Maybe they form the borax tsp film to prolong it. But if it is something more than that, I would love to know what they used to make it stay up there.
