I have a 20amp charger. I was told that by wireing though the truck it will over charge it and the alternator will go out faster and bacause it is having to work harder

20 amp is to fast of a charge for marine battery, charge at 2 amps for longer charge, if you are charging at 20, your battery will die after a couple roofs. A 2 amp charge will give you at lest 6 roofs or more. the slower the charge the longer your battery will last.....

I agree. My charger is set at 2 amps, tricle charge. I can use it 2 or 3 times. Ive never pushed to see how far the battery will last.

Oh and also batteries have memory. Not sure how to explain this. If you keep it fully charged or close it recieves a charge to that level. If it is always under charged, the battery cannot recieve the same charge as a battery that stays fully charged.

Its a big charger that goes up to 20 amps but I dont do to many roofs so i just need it to be charged quick. Thanks for the 2 amp charging tip, I didnt know that. You should always be cycling you batts they do create a memory. I dont think car batts do though. thanks guys

Do a cheap setup. Dont listen to everyone who says from your truck. If you have electric brakes then you have pwr already, if not do this and itll be the bes 200 you spend. Go to Harbor Frieght and buy their solar panel setup, and get a battery. Maybe 2 hrs to install and always charging.
