An economical (disposable?) transfer pump?

Has anyone used a simple drill pump as a SH transfer pump for any length of time?  I wasn't able to find any reference to drill pumps with the search function, although  I'd think that surely others have tried it?

I'll be sure to report back on how long my first one lasts unless this is old hat.    Three uses with hot SH (per my supplier) followed by a good rinse in water and so far so good.  I'm getting between 2 and 3 GPMs out of it as well (estimated).

Someone on here does and posted that before. I wonder if it would effect the drill over time?? I am sure it mixes the tank well!! We like to circulate.

I just realized you meant something else and I didn't go to the link. I don't know how long that pump will last, but seems cheap enough if you get a few months out of it.

That's kinda what I'm thinking, but as you've mentioned Bill, I'm not sure how long the drill itself will last.    I'll report back on it's lifespan after a while unless others have some insight.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and lightnin' fast at that.  biggrin

Ted, Harbor Freight has some cheap pumps I might consider as a transfer pump, one is a 110V, the other is a 12V type used for RV's, I think both are under $50.00 each

Yeah the delevan or use your trailer mounted pump and add a fill tube and valve for it. That's what we use. Just add a hose bib inlet and attach a draw tube to a piece of kuri tek with a hode connection. We rinse it into the mix tank and on the road we go every morning.

That's a good use for the old Delavan.
