Yeah, I have been pressure washing roofs for 25 years.
I have alot of huge manufacturing facilities that require it.
There are many types of roofs, Plus the RCIA are going to meet with other leaders in he industry at the show and get some update info on RCIA findings.
This Lori is how we advance the industry.
There are alot of guys who dont know or understand the RCIA way.
So with that in Mind do you realize how many more pumps you just might sell after a roof demo?
Please be respectful to other distributors, Thanks

Guys, dont think so small. just because you only have shingles in your area doesn't mean there is only one way. Metal roof, Tile Roofs, Membrane Roofs, and all the others out there. I personally own a Yamada ndp15 and an allflo and a Pressure washer. I prefer the air diaphram when cleaning roofs however there have been times I have had to break out the old fashion PW to do a metal or tile roof. In 6 years I only pw one shingle roof it was my first roof and the last time i did that. To each his one and there is more than one way to skin a cat******** Disclaimer I love animals and do not condone hurting them******

I do have shingle, membrane and tile, but would still never use a pressure washer on any of them.

You certainlty CAN use a pressure washer to clean a tile roof. Just like with the RCIA method, the difference is in the nozzles.
You CAN nozzle down your pressure washer from 6-10 gpm @ 4000 psi to 6-10 gpm @ 300 - 800 psi and get the gunk off the roof, and then apply a roof cleaning solution to kill the biomatter. I've done it. But that was before I knew a better way.
A PW creates too high a risk for damage, doesn't kill the biomatter unless you DS solution, which I personally don't recomend, and confuses the customer. If I can use my PW correctly there are 100 other who can't/won't. To the customer its just a guy with a PW and they'll go with the cheapest. They don't care about training, safety, or effectiveness 90% of the time. If they see 3 guys doing what appears to be the same thing, they'll hire the cheapest.
I use the RCIA way not only because I believe it to be the best way, but because it allows me to stand apart from hacks and handyman with a rented PW who call themselves roof cleaners.
I can't wait to set my company up so that I can be the only company that serves Sun CIty DAILY who: Never walks on the roof, offers a guarantee, is RCIA certified, OSHA and DOT compliant, and is affiliated with a company that has served that area for 30 years.

You can nozzle down and lower the pressure to clean tile using a pressure washer..you can also use a surface cleaner. You could even use a monkey and a push broom....
But I am part of the RCIA which does not follow those values, and my company follows the guidelines as such.
Dont get me wrong Matt, there is a million and one ways to clean a roof..but I stick by my guns on this one.
No one from my comapny is getting on a tile roof with a pressure washer at any amount of pressure when I push hard the NO-Pressure theory.
When anyone opens the can of worms about using a pressure washer on a roof, it will degrade the roof cleaning industry just like the pw industry in my area. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry has a pressure washer in the back of the truck low balling each other driving the market below sea level. The dont care about quality, safety, just the next buck for beer money. That leaves a lasting experience with everyone
I do understand what you meant in the post above tho.
We no longer use our pressure washers for anything except concrete. Maybe I'll learn more uses for them at the roundtable.
