A 'new' ladder design? Thoughts or experience with it?

Good day folks.  Long term lurker and recent forum member Ted here with my first post.  Firstly, what a great forum!  I've read and read and read, and continue to do just that, constantly.  Today was my first 'full fledged day" being open for business, and I landed a deal on my first sales call  biggrin A sincere thanks to all that have made this RCIA forum so beneficial.

There have been a number of posts on ladders, ladder safety and sadly, fallen comrades.   While reading these posts and other articles on ladders and ladder choices, I came across this- http://www.faxko.com./index.html

The search function revealed no 'hits' on this 'ladder system' hence the post.  Does anyone have any hands on experience with this?  The manufacturer touts safety as a key attribute.  It seems as if it is quite versatile and might suit the needs of many ladders with the exception of the more lengthy ones.  As an aside, I have no vested interest in Faxko, other than I need to buy a ladder or 3.

Thoughts?

(Hopefully my sig populates here, cause I know the drill  LOL)

Hi Ted and Welcome.

It certainly is interesting.
Possibly useable for those shooting from the ladder.

I use a multipositional ladder from Werner that can do the same things.

Doesn't look real sturdy. I'd like to see one in person.

Hi and welcome brother!! I like the look of that ladder, but have always avoiding any that do all that stuff. I really usually don't need anything larger than my 10 or 8 footer in an A frame, but a 16 straight and an a frame in one could definitely be handy, especially if you need some ladders in the first place. I would check and see if it will hold up to commercial usage, meaning make sure it is not designed for home use only as you would use it daily. I am leaving my office staff a note to look at this ladder tomorrow, thanks for the link!!

Welcome!  Hope to see you here often.

Looks interesting, but i'd just have to see it in practice before i'd trust it.

All the info on their site is great, but even their Ebay reviews do not refer to wether or not the buyers were using this ladder daily. Sent them an email to find out.

For my own thoughts, the adjustable legs (if they hold up) would assuage any ladder nervousness new hires have about uneven surfaces. Brick and wood slide around under ladder feet, so we'll see what they say about their product.

So, this is the reply I got:

"Our ladder is rated "Extra heavy duty - Type 1A" per ANSI Standard. All ladders in the market are tested per the same Standard that require 4 times of the rated load (4x300= 1200 lb) and minimum of 6000 cycles. As we understand there is no separate standard for commercial and casual usage.
Hope this would help."

As of right now, we aren't in the market for a new ladder, but we're considering getting one of these for the next go around. We'll let everyone know how it holds up.

Cheers!

Morgan

I've contacted the US rep for this product for some more information as I'm about to make some additional purchases.

I'll advise of the outcome.

Ted, I have werners' version of the little giant. I like it because it is so portable. I think it's 20-22 feet tall.

looks like it is a good design for an occasional use ladder when your regular ladder wont do but not an every day type ladder keep us posted if you get it

I can think of a number of instances where this ladder would fit the bill very nicely.   I carry a 8' a-frame ladder on the truck now, so this would replace it with more purpose, yet not take up more room.  Still chewin' on it.....

Hi Ted, Welcome. I own a Little Giant and love it. They have done some upgrades to it since I bought mine, and it works even slicker. Take a look at it before you buy, the price on this ladder is good and it makes sense for those uneven situations that we all get in. Good luck the season. Don

Hi Don, and thank you for the kind welcome.  I've been around for a little while now, although this was my first post that I dug up since I'm considering this unique ladder once agan.  smile

I took the plunge and ordered it this evening.  The US rep acknowledged my order via email and let me know that it will ship out of Michigan tomorrow.  I'm lookng forward to trying it out.

I found the ladder on my front porch just a couple of days after placing the order.

I've only played around with it here at the house a little today, as it's been raining. I have not yet used it on a job (that will change quickly).  With that said, here are some initial observations:

Using it as an 8 foot step ladder, it's absolutely ROCK solid.  I don't think I've ever been on a step ladder as firm and secure.  It feels more like going up stairs than a ladder.

Fully extended, there is some flex as to be expected, which the manufacturer clearly states on their web site.  However, since the ladder is supported by the "tripod legs" and splay braces approximately half way up (depending on how far you extend it) the flex is minimized substantially as compared to my aluminium extension ladder.

It looks to be well built, well designed and feels and looks like a quality ladder to me.  I really like the idea of being able to use it on uneven terrain.

Money well spent in my opinion.

Keep in mnind I needed another ladder though. AND this particular ladder plays very nicely in to part of our marketing, which I won't go in to in this post.
