My set up is a trailer with tandem axle. One large tank with 50 gallons of SH mixed with 150 water and 1 gallon of ammonyxlo. So I take it I would not need the placard?

Coorect no NEED for one.
Although, I am considering getting the appropriate stickers for my tank which identifies it properly. I think they're PL-UN1824.

Primary Hazard Class/Division: 8 UN/NA Number UN 1791 Packing group III
I was talking to a guy recently that told me DOT told him that once you mix it, the whole tank is considered hazardous. So if you mix 75 gallons in a 150 gallon tank, you are carrying 150 gallons of hazardous material. Tried to find the rules myself but you know how govmt writes things- to confuse the reader- even if I could have found it. Anyway, I think you would be hard pressed to get stopped unless you were on the highway and a DOT officer happened to see you. I have been carrying a 300 gallon tank for years, Im pretty sure others carry bigger.

That is correct, when you mix the water with the SH, it is all considered the same thing so if you have more than 1001 pounds which is like 118 gallons or so, then you will have to have placards on all 4 sides of the tank or if it is inside a box truck then on all 4 sides of the truck but before you do that, you have to get the CDL before you can get the Hazmat Endorsement, I could be wrong but I believe that you have to have the CDL first.
There have been a lot of guys that have not been pulled over but all it takes is one time for a good fine, probably starting out at about $2000.00 more or less.
The state troopers are giving tickets inside the city now more than before where before they would just give tickets on the highways so I would not be over confident, if it is a public road they can give you a ticket, not just on a highway.
City police don't really know the DOT Regulations as good as the State Troopers but I heard that they want that to change, another revenue stream for the city police.
I was talking to a police officer last week and he was telling me about this and how they can give out more tickets than before when they start doing this, right now they are not really enforcing that stuff but from what I hear it is going to change, they say it is part of the Homeland Security thing.
MSDS need to be within arm's reach of the driver in case of an accident or for when they pull you over for routine inspection, they are doing more of the routine inspections now more than ever before.
All containers on the vehicle, truck, trailer, etc... need to be properly labeled. You can have a name on it but have the danger diamond on it showing if it is corrosive, flammable, oxidizer, etc..
There is more than this but this should give you an idea that they are serious and just because lots of guys have 100's of gallons of love on the trucks and trailers does not mean that one day they will not be getting a ticket, probably cost them more money in tickets than what they will make all day with all those chemicals
Ok, enough of the rant, back to the regular programming. hahahahaha
