Standard garden hose for roof cleaning.......

I have several hundred feet of standard garden hose sitting around. I'm going to use it for my setup since I'm on a budget.

How long should it last if I flush it out after each use?

I know I'm asking a broad spectrum question here. I'm just trying to see what you all have experienced.

Kinda depends how often you use it....It will last enough roofs to buy the stuff you will want.

If you rinse it out after every roof the hose will last a very long time. The fittings will have to be replaced sooner than later. I knew a guy who used a 3/4 inch garden hose for his solution for nearly a year before he switched to AG hose.

Call Lori from PWP she'll get you a good price on that hose. You should be able to buy it sooner than you think. But the garden hose will work.

If you plan to use it here are some suggestions.

1. Switch the black seals in the hose ends out for nitrile seals or better yet viton seals (available at Harbour Frieght)

2. Use Teflon tape to make any connections and help prevent leaks.

3. Use duct tape or see if you can find waterproof tape to wrap the outside of any hose to hose connections. You don't want a leak 50 feet into the guys yard.

4. Carry extra fittings and get in the habit of checking every fitting under pressure every job.

When I started out I used a good quality 5/8 Garden hose purchased at sams club.and made a PVC shut off with nozzle.  I made it through my first year with a few modifications to stop leaks.

I have already replaced the brass connectors with plastic hose barbs. I figured the SH would destroy them fast. I just saw the seals at Harbor Freight. I will get them ASAP.

I'm doing a lot of house washes now but very little roofs. We have a lot of metal roofs here on the cabins where I live. Hopefully the roofs jobs will come as a total house cleaning package.

Thanks....

What pump did you use and how many feet of hose?

Great suggestions on the teflon tape and viton seals.  It's little upgrades  like this that makes the job easier...
