The Future Of Roof Cleaning Pumps ?

Check this out guys, Roof Cleaning Pump this is caled a Peristalic Pump. It has no nothing to wear out, but the tubing. The Chemical is squeezed by the tubing passing over Rollers. These pumps are availiable at 250 psi and 45 gpm, IF you can afford 7500.00 ????????
This company is working on a higher pressure version of their existing pumps. The tubing used is the limiting factor, and they have plans to have some special tubing made that will allow both high pressure and chemical resistance.
These will be the roof cleaning pumps of the future, IF they can work out a few bugs!

These Pumps WILL do 125 PSI, but a 5 gpm version costs 3500 dollars !!!!!!!!!!
The 10 GPM version costs 5200.00, BUT, it will be the LAST roof cleaning pump one may ever buy ? Think about it, there is nothing to go wrong, all that wears is the tubing. This company sells factory direct only, and he says he may make us a deal ?
But it will still be very expensive cry

We use to use Randolph pumps in the Navy. If I remember correctly, the only maintenance we did on them was grease the rollers. You can pump anything with them!

Shhhhh Pat, please don't tell anyone no
Seriously, they will be the future of roof cleaning pumps, once the price comes down.
I am in contact with a couple of manufacturers of these pumps. Right now, Breidel Pumps has a lock on the special high pressure, chemically resistant tubing needed to make it happen. Once this tubing becomes widely availiable, prices will drop like bird chit, and roof cleaners everywhere will be enjoying the simplicity and reliability of these kinds of pumps. Like you said Pat, just grease the rollers  roof cleaning

I am glad someone is paying attention to this thread biggrin

Yeah, those prices you mentioned earlier are just rediculous. The pumps we used were not complicated at all. the motor end was electric and connected to the pump with a belt. The pump end is just as simple - the casing holds the tubing and the rollers. We only used the ones with 2 rollers and the pump discharge was "pulsating".  I wonder if the pulsating can be fixed completely with 3 or 4 rollers.

They use these designs in hospitals all the time for consistent even measured flow at low gpm. I looked into these back when the forum started and the price was the same. Even ended up on this same website. Do you really think that such a specialized piece of equipment is going to drop in price anytime soon?? How long are those guys holding the patent on the tubing?

Good observations on the discharge pulsating. Actually, Air Diapraghm Pumps Pulsate too. If you look in any AODD Pump Catalog, there will always be a pulsation dampener offered. The reason we as roof cleaners dont see it is this. The 200 to 300 foot of hose we use on a hose reel acts as a big pulsation dampener.

It is all speculation and opinion Bill, no one really knows what the future holds.

I would hate to see someone not get an air diapraghm pump, because they are waiting for the price to drop on these.  Who really knows, the prices may never come down. I was told some of these pumps weigh 150 lbs! But ya gotta love the simplicity of these ?

Oh I do love the simplicity bro. Makes me want to try and build one :). Recently I have been checking out the lower RPM compressors available today. they run at 800-900rpm and run much cooler usually with three separate cylinder heads on the compressor. High cfm with 5.5hp motors.

The slower it turns, the longer it lasts. I had another idea, we should take a roller pump, and have the inside plated with Titanium, and make the roller assembly out of hastelloy with EDPM Rollers that will not crack when they roll over dried salt crystals!

One day, someone will make a Kynar Roller Pump, or better yet, a thick plating on a metal one in the chamber so we can run high pressure too !!!!!!!!

Plastics, unless rrally thick, just will not take pressure.

Mark my words, there may be a Peristalic Pump in every roof cleaners truck or trailer one day. Until then, the Air Diapraghm Pump rules.

I still say a roller pump might be able to be modified or made to hold up to what we use

Very Good my friend, when a life is on the line, a reliable pump is a must ! An IV Pump has nothing to go wrong! Yes, this is just a big brother to an IV Pump !

This is a great idea for a roof cleaning pump.... the pump never comes in contact with the fluid it pumps!

We use to use "Tygon" tubing with our pumps. Check out www.tygon .com - they make tubing for many different applications .... acids, bases, solvents.... From what I could tell, the max pressure is 70# on some of their tubing. Wish I had the time to do some testing on one of these.....

Even if someone does not use them for roof cleaning at this time, they would make great transfer pumps.
