Hey all,

Pulling together equipment for my initial setup.  As w/ most, finances are limited and I will continue to upgrade as I drive more business.
I want to at least start out w/ an adequate setup but still have some questions despite my many hours of reading the forums here. Lori has
pulled together some pricing info for me for the following:

- Delavan Fatboy Pump
- 200 ft of 5/8 Kuri Tec Hose
- Wand Assembly
- Tri Banger nozzle Holder and nozzles
- Tank filter
- 6 gallons Hang tite
- 1 Gallon Green apple
- appropriate fittings

I will be getting the following from other sources:

- 65 Gallon Barrell container from TSC
- 4 gallon back pack pump sprayer for backup
- A couple smaller containers for Ox, straight SH or other chems to keep on the truck
- Battery setup for Fatboy from pressure tek
ayer from TSC for back up until I get a second pump
- Muck boots, Gloves, coveralls and respirator (Would love to get input on appropriate startup list on these)
- 100 ft of hose for ground man.  Will probably carry 2 just in case

I will be mounting this equipment on skids which will in turn be mounted on my Dodge 2500.

I am well aware that there are many types of setups and mine is far from ideal.  Any glaring issues or input?  Keep in mind that for now this is and adjunct to my home inspection business that I am changing to a Home Services company to include Roof cleaning, House cleaning, pressure washing etc.

I would also like to hear what is needed for an air pump setup and what the cost differential is

Thanks in advance for the feedback.  I know you all have worked hard to acquire the knowledge and I am committed to growing my business
by becoming an expert.  For now its baby steps and lots of questions.

Terry

Ditch the back pack sprayer. IMO they are very dangerous on a roof. Between the possibility of SH going down your back and the fact that the pump arm likes to catch on the ladder if your going on the roof...I just wouldn't do it.

Ditch the backpack sprayer. And as far as ideal setups, to each his own. My setup is the most effecient for me, as I have experimented with various setups through the years. Make your setup work for you.

Thanks for the advice.  Consider the backpack gone.   Do you have any type of pump sprayer for spot applications and/or "Just in case" backup?

I was kinda thinking about one of those backpacks too. But those side levers could definitely be bad if it gets caught.

I like the Gilmour 2 or 3 gallon pump sprayers for small touch up spots or for free demonstrations.

Sold at Lowe's

LOL yea, that is a bad spot for it to leak. I had one that I used for putting down strippers and brighteners on decks and it leaked down my lower back years ago and go to that tender spot, boy it sucked for about a week. Never used one for roof cleaning, be careful though, be safe.

Consider the 65 gallon tank from Dultmeier. I think with shipping it's still cheaper than the tanks at Tractor Supply. The yellow coloration of the tank helps protect the SH mix from the sun a little better then the off-white tanks.

only problem is it has a 2 inch drain at the bottom which equals potential leak.

100 gallon tank at tractor supply no drain and cost 299.99 i have two of them.

I like the fact that they are local and if you think about it 65 gallons will really only allow you to do 1 maybe two roofs.

I have one for sh and one for my mix i turn a valve and pump sh into the mix tank when i need to make more.

No more 5 gallon buckets.roof cleaning

hey guys look at my set up here. It looks small but It is well prepared for all day work easily.

I can clean 2 roofs and wash 4 houses a day easily, and still have left over supplys with the trailer unit.

I'm sure my set up isnt quite as effecient as some of you but I'm very versatile.

The big truck is another unit.

just in case you haven't noticed I live on the bay, I have thousands of feet of bulkhead. there is awsome money in roof cleaning.

Terry.  You are off to a good start.  How many ladders will you have?  Some other things to consider:  What about tarps, safety harness, ladder stabilizer, goggles, protective coating under your tank in case SH, hose reels ....

I totally agree the backpack sprayer is more trouble and dangerous than it looks!

I am just setting up my rig and am looking at a very similar set up less the backpack sprayer.  Its perfect for getting into the business and make adjustments as you go.
