Ball Valves?

I am planning on building a 3/4' ball valve assembly in the next few days.

My question is this..

Does opening the valve half way, so that you can decrease the flow that is coming out the valve, in a way to control the overspray.

Will this Hurt the Delavan 5850 to the point where is blows the 30 amp fuse or causes the pump to overheat?

I have the poly gun setup know that comes with the 5850 kit now. Would like to have and of wands and a ball valve for " Just in Case" issue.

Thanks, and Be Blessed

I just used a 2' pvc wand with a 45* on the tip, with a 3/4 ball valve and it works good. but i will use a shorter wand next time. I run the fatboy and if you dont want to restrict flow

I've always  run a ball valve.  On the 5850, I had no problems using it to regulate the flow.  Worked great.  The FatBoy however draws more amps, and the ball valve will need to be all the way open or shut.

It sounds like 12 volt systems need the ball valve wide open to work properly.  Lets hear some input from someone that has an air pump.  I am still trying to decide which way to go and it would be nice to control over spray by only partially opening the valve.
