How to get started with commercial roofs?

A lot of what I see on the forum seems to be geared towards residential cleaning. I have a lot of commercial customers I would like to introduce to roof cleaning. Could some of you guys who are marketing themselves sucessfully commercially give me some of the frequently asked questions and answers. What type of equipment does it take to take on roofs that are 18,000 sq ft and above?

Not much changes equipment wise. I do kow that the Udor zeta has the ability to run 2 hoses at 5gpm which would be good for apartments, condos, etc...

Commercial customers are worried about a few specific things:

1. Are their tenents/patrons going to be affected.
2. How quickly can you do the work properly.
3. Do you have WC and enough insurance to cover their property.

Thats basically the 3 main first questions I get. Beyond that, each customer will have a different concern. Be prepared to lower the price a bit, but also remember to make a profit. Ive seen guys price so low just to get a commercial job, that it takes them a week to do it, then only turn a very small profit, or go negative. Breaking even on 1 or 2 jobs isnt a terrible idea, just to get the pictures and referrals.

First of all,

Welcome to the forum.  This site is truly world class, and will help you grow your business.

With that being said, I am a firm believer in knocking on doors, getting the word out is the key.

You can also drop off a flyer or two each time you drive by a commercial site that is in need for a roof clean.  You might also barter with them and trade services.

I have found that mom and pop type businesses are the easiest for me to sell.  Their name is their business and most would want their business to look its best.

Good luck in all areas!
