i soft wash houses with chlorine too, and i'd say ti has a lot to do with the environment conditons, and the strength used.

A light rain can sometimes reactivate the smell two weeks after a job as been done, A heavy rain washes the smell away.

I would say anywhere form two days (housewash at 8% SH) to two weeks (hot roof mix)
