I think we all have some really "Big Work" under our belts. Does this qualify one to bypass the set qualifications?
I have cleaned restaurant exhaust systems for 27 years, does this make me an expert? By any means No... I can clean a mean hood, but I am not a "Certified Hood Cleaner" Nor will I ever try.....I have done it so long, I have no desire getting an acreditation for it. I have cleaned some of the largest fast food chains in the mid west... I have surface cleaned 25 acres of concrete in a single weekend.......
.....I have cleaned some roofs as well, but I am going thru the motions just like every person who has put in the time and long hours studying the wonderful site. I have made a few friends here as well, Chris, who pointed me to this site from a phone call I made to him,Clyde, who seems to have a sence of humor that I get, and Lori who is my new supplier and pump advisor......just to name a few....
Roof cleaning has nothing to do with Hood cleaning, but I am here to learn from everyone including you. So post some ideas or questions that you have gathered with your experience
Good luck to you, and give me some of that knowledge!! I love it.....who knows, maybe you would like to open a hood service as well for night time work..lol
This is a decision Chris would have to make. He ushered in maybe 3-4 of his friends that he personally knows have been doing roof cleaning and in contact with him for years before the forum started. It may be possible, send him a PM to find out.
i have respect for all but to be certified means 100 posts dont got the time bro just cause u can type (bla bla bla)
It isnt about 100 post..it's sbout being WELL informed in all aspect of cleaning a roof. Sure a monkey can sling love on a roof, but does he know how the love works, how it reacts with metals, safety and the list goes on.
I post most of my post well after dark, and i research, and research....not just here but all over the internet, etc.
No, you dont have to be certified to clean roofs. You can lead a horse to water.....you know the rest.
Good luck to you.
If you have more questions pertaining to being certified, contact one of the admins or instructors.

Dan you have to do more than type a hundred post you also have to pass the verbal test administered by a staff member. It is just the matter of knowing how to mix different cleaners, how to work safe, how to access roofs, and etc.
I'm sure you know it all so call Chris and tell him your ready to take the test.
I have also noticed that you have been causing alot of trouble around here, you need to chill out. LOL.
sorry guys i gave up my tree service for this, and i think i made a mistake. i ran it for 17 years and im having trouble with my mentality. have you guys ever had to go to work and look death in the face?? well thats not the only reasone why i gave it up. it was the over head and the land scrapers takeing the gravey. last year i looked at the numbers roof cleaning was it, now this fourm has created competion and it wont stop.

There is going to be competition in any business you have. You just have to want the work more than they do. Knock on doors. Talk to people. Have a good personality. Sell yourself to the homeowners. Make friends out of your customers and they will help you get more work. Its more than just being able to clean a roof. Stand out from the others. Don't try to take shortcuts it doesn't help you in the long run. Good luck this year you can do it.
