You gotta start somewhere.....but I agree about your tank.
Maybe you can build a box around the tank at least half way up. I see you have it set in, but if it gets to sloshin around, it could tip.

Other than that, you gotta start somewhere.......keep at it!

another strap crisscrossing other wouldnt hurt boxed in would give better security maybe some flat stock underneath to the frame to attatch to never trusted straps i switched to metal cable fed thru rubberhose conncted to turnbuckles aka stretching srews but good luck on wash

A handful of us on here started roof cleaning with pump sprayers years ago. Your rig is light years ahead of pump sprayers,..Ha, Ha. I remember Mike Sullivan and I discussing that once on here and he said the pump part stopped working, so he just took the top off and poured the mix down the roof,..Ha Ha. Was funny 'cause I had to do the same thing before.

The idea for this simple little rig you've got is a result of this forum,.... alot of us didn't have that benefit years ago. And if you do good work,... your profit margin will be good and you can upgrade as time moves on.

Take the suggestions from the guys telling you about the barrel.

looks good. tie everything down good, not just the barrel. definately box that barrel in. that solution sloshes everwhere inside. it's a funny feeling when you stop at a light or are driving and feel it moving around behind you. i'm new at this too and have been busy the last few weeks. i'm havin a great time! good luck.

Definetly another strap on the barrel. Is that battery box with your pump in it screwed down ? Would not want that sliding off ! Is the barrel vented ?

i see the boxing clyde [u can call me will]. my point is its low, like a couple of inches. a higher box [maybe half the drum space could certainly provide more support? i know he doesnt have much room or weight capacity, but the more stability the better. those straps can as with anything fail. just my suggestion.

will with you being a patrol man I'm sure you have an eye for questionable towing and safety concerns.

perhaps its a silly question but do you have any suggestions for any of us regarding towing trailers and safety issues?

of course i do. most stuff is common sense. watch how much weight ur puttin on them. make sure the wheels are a good size. watch ur speed. ive seen more than one trailer overturned and next to the truck that was pulling it in my fire/ems and police career. check all connections over and over. make sure everything is tight. tie everything down as anything can become a projectile and kill or injure someone while ur driving without a clue down the road. i hate to see stuff hangin over the sides and it's a sure way to get stopped. my biggest pet peave is trailer lights. on midnight shift i can sit and watch [and pull over] dozens of trailers [mostly boats] who don't have lights. this is obviously very dangerous.

bottom line is just be smart. use ur head and if it doesn't look safe or feel right, it probably isn"t. be safe guys!

ive attached a photo of a trailer i saw that left me speechless.

I'm not going any where with a tank like that! you are not only risking to get a ticket...

if that comes loos, you will hurt some body!

Yes the pump box is mounted with screws...it's not going anywhere. I believe the barrel is vented because when the caps are on and you move the barrel you can hear it breath.

I've added another strap to criss-cross over the top of the barrel. I agree that it would look more safe if the casing went up higher than it does, so if roof cleaners use the 55 gallon drum for their tanks please post a photo of how you mounted.....thanks guys.

youll get it.....dont worry, you will be dreaming up ways to look better, work quicker and make more money. Time is money, Money is time.

If you save money now, you will spend more time later putting it the way you want.

If you save time now, you will spend more money.

Get your rig set for what works best for you, and what makes you quicker. Cause if you save 15 min on every job.......you may have time to squeeze in another before the end of the day and take that money away for an even better set up....

Just my thoughts, everyone has their own....

Good Job Rick...seems like you didnt need my help after all!

Let me make a couple of suggestions. Some were already made, but ill make them again anyway.

1. Make sure that the barrel will not tilt at all when it is full. If DOT stops you and you do not have it properly secured, you could face hefty fines. Also, if the barrel falls off, you could spill chemical all over the roadway and be fined/sued by the city. Worstly, if it falls off and causes a wreck, your roof cleaning days would most likely be numbered. Better to be safe then sorry.

2. Your Hose. For now it will work. But make sure you clean it out when you are done to avoid the SH eating it. BE CAREFULL!! If that hose bursts while cleaning, you could get love all over you and worse, in your eyes!!! SH will eat the hose with no problem so just be cautious.

3. Make sure you spray off your trailer after every use with water. The love will detroy it over time.

4. Check the strap over your tank after every use. That will be eaten in no time.

A couple of questions...

1. Where is your battery located?
2. Do you have an on/off swith for your pump?
3. What is the white box in the back of your trailer for?

hi rick did see a top mount device was a square piece of metal across top of tank looked like hinges on ehds connected to two smaller pieces of square stock hugging the barrel thick straps went to platform hugging sides which pull top weight down but you could rethink this over and over best way put water in take it for a bit of a rough ride it will let you know what to do as long as you get from point a to point b safe thats where the monies at nice circle cut on base good luck

With your wood building skills you should build a cradle and turn your 55 drum on it’s side…bulk head the top ….seal the caps real good even though they will leak eventually …….by then you will have made enough money to arrange something better.

Rick, as everyone has said safety is a big issue with a 55 gallon drum like that coming off and full of chemical, even empty could cause some serious damage or multiple car accident. I went on craiglist.com in your area for Houston, Texas and seen a few water tanks for sale by mobile detailers, they ranged from 150 to 250 or so size, prices was 100.00 to 150.00 for these used water tanks. Check into it and if need be get you a used tank to start with. Good luck with every thing.
