That should work great. Add 2 moisture traps and a second regulator and your good to go. Cfm is the key 9 cfm will work. The all flos are rated for 16 cfm so get as close to that as u can

Bill. What's a moisture trap and what does it do? Why two? Why xtra regulator?

I'm ordering an All-flo from Lori next week. I have a rigid wheel barrel compressor.

Lori got me a regulator/moisture trap/air filter that I attach to the All-Flo. This keeps the pressure at 120 (top rating for pump) and the air dry. Getting dirt/water in the all-flo air intake can hurt its longevity.

You are supposed to drain the compressor sometimes too to prevent build up.

I have the filter/regulator/ trap too. Lori recommended it. My compressor is an old pow-r-quip gas powered. it aint pretty, but it puts out air and i got it for a sweet price. It does just fine with my yamada diaphragm pump. I'll have to check the CFM, but it's only a 9 gallon wheelbarrow.

The "hot dog" type of compressors are better then the wheelbarrow ones, because they have larger air storage tanks. A trick if using a wheelbarrow compressor is to try a larger air storage tank, sometimes it makes a big difference.

An oldie, but a goodie, it is called a Hot Dog Compressor, because it kind of looks like a hot dog. It is superior to a wheelbarrow compressor because of the bigger air storage tank (30 gallon vs 9)

Will the wheelbarrow comp keep up with the All-flo or do you need to wait for pressure to build back up?

Hi Paul,
Moisture traps trap the oil and condensation that comes with the air out of the compressor to keep them from getting into your pump.  2 is always better than one for extra trapping power.  Lowes sells some nice large Kobalt ones that self drain when not under pressure for about $26 each.  A second regulator will ensure that your pressure is stable if one goes bad.  Your main regulator that came with the compressor may be off or wrong and a second will countermeasure this effect.  Your Wheel barrel compressor may keep up, but may also run constantly to keep up instead of switching to idle, this will shorten the life of the compressor.  I would check your pump body for liquid every month or so, you can easily tell if liquid is getting into the pump from the pump muffler being wet or oily.  Put the moisture traps near the pump instead of near the compressor as the air line will condensate internally as well.

Paul..You should really drain your air compressor after every use and leave the drain ****s open when not in use.  The reason for this is that your metal tank will condensate in colder weather or at night causing moisture to build up in the tank when not in use.  Most compressors will tell you in the manufacturers instructions to drain them after use.

One more thing for all you compressor users.  Keep that air compressor as far away from your pump and tanks as possible.  The chlorine gas emitted from the love will corrode the inside of your tank if it comes in the intake of the compressor.

I wouldn't say I never have to wait but generally I don't. Sometimes it says a second to start pressurizing on demand when coming out of bypass.

Thanks for the info Bill!

bill i have been having condensation come throught the muffler ever since i first hooked up my pump. I am now have priming issues to the point where i have to prime it every time i use it. Once primed it goes but always am priming it. Does this mean it needs a rebuild or not? Its the all flow kv38. My water seperator is directly attached to the pump (second one i have used) the first did the same thing allowing condesation through the pump. Please help.

As was said earlier, your cfm is what is the most important. Check what the rating is on your particular all flo pump and keep it in that range with the psi and you should be fine. When you get up on a 2 story roof the better your cfm is with the psi the nicer your flow will also be.

Mike I would really guess that your priming issue is a leak on one of your intake hoses or pipes.  I also get a little oil in my pump even with 2 traps.  Try 2 traps and you might want to take the pump apart to take a look inside and see if it is collecting a lot.  You may find that if moisture has built up in the pump body it will reduce the power of the pump and eventually blow out a diaphragm.  Post more details on this if you can and have you taken it apart before?
