Foam For Roof Cleaning !

Lafferty Equipment is known as the Cadillac of Foam Equipment by many.
I have expressed interest in a roof cleaning foamer.

Here is an email, and video to watch, you read it first at RCIA smile

Good afternoon Chris,

I have a short flash video showing the new commercial kitchen foamer from Lafferty.  It's a preliminary demonstration but it shows the versatility of the product.  You will see the foamer adjusted from a drier foam to a more wet and clingy foam. It proves the application versatility available to the operator.  The surfaces used in the shots were the metal test booths at our manufacturing facility in N Little Rock.  It demonstrates the foam is easily applied and how nicely it clings.  This was all accomplished with less than 1 CFM of air!  Note the angled applicator to easily reach up to inside corners or even into the bottom of the duct.

This unit, model 935155 is now being tested in San Antonio and can be easily modified to address roof cleaning as well!

Best regards,

Bob St Lawrence

It looks most require water pressure or with could be okay if you could get the right dilution ratios from it?

Otherwise the pure air one requires a beast of a compressor....?

I have done extensive research on foam and foaming guns. I wouldn't call me an expert yet but it has been my intentions for quite some time for roof cleaning.
There are several ways to get foam. Number one is a 2 hose system which works very well and you inject a foaming surfactant at the last second so that you don't lose any strength of the bleach. You can easliy adjust for dry or wet foam.
2. You can use a kind of chemical sprayer. the kind with the half gallon bottle after the gun trigger.
3.You can use an even mixed tank foamer where you mix you apple sauce with a foaming detergent and it has a foam gun which evenly shoots the liquid and the air creating foam.
4. Air injected foam where the air is put in at the last second and mixes in at the foaming wand.

To my knowledge those are the best ways to do it. From what I have found the foam works better on vertical surfaces. I have done one roof with it which went ok but this was before I was using the Love. It has been rather difficult for me to find the proper amount of foaming agent. I have not tried anything with using Ammonyx Lo but I imagine that and even more so the AmmonyxMo would work awesome.

I have had a pump up style and have been playing with it over the winter. The whole roof cleaning subject has kind of taken over though and I sort of put the foam on hold until I get my feet wet here.

Someof the best benefits I found are the fact that:
1. you can shoot 30' feet in a laser line that has virtually zero over spray.
2. Longer contact time.
3. Cuts material down tremendously. The material basically expands so you cover more surface area with less product.
4. Control of shot.
5. Foam is stronger than just liquid as in it is more course so it pulls dirt better.
6. No overspray! No ground man!
7. You can beat foam in a race down the ladder.

Using the Amonyx Lo, you would not need a foaming system unless it is steep vertical surfaces but even then with the Amonyx Lo, it gives the mix a lot better cling than anything else I have used in many years.

No matter what system you have, use or plan on using, a ground person is not only recommended but it is also common sense because you can't see where it is running off the roof and you need another set of eyes on the ground and keep watering everything. There can always be a windy day that will carry the mix off the roof or you can accidentally overspray something.

I have several foaming systems but with the Amonyx Lo, I will not be foaming roofs as this is much faster, less hoses, no air compressor needed, etc....

The main thing is use what is best for you, what is profitable, what makes you look professional and keep the customer's property safe.

I am tending to agree with you Chris, just wait til lori gets the Myrastamine Oxide (Apple Butter)
I am also experimenting with stuff that sprays on as a liquid, but gels up as soon as it hits a surface. Many things I have been working on, try make it better for all of us.
MY :problem" with foam, is, how do you know it is cleaning ? the love with ammonyx is clear, and if ya need more cling, dump some more in ?
No foamer complexity ?
