Here's another revision on a monster sign like Dave's.

Is the phrase "What's eating your roof?" patented? Chris said this is AC Lockyer's idea with Mallard Systems.

Kind of like Michael Buffer's "Lets get ready to rumble!"

He can sue anyone who tries to say it or print it for their advertising purposes. LOL!

No snap, Mike? I couldn't find that in the public SEARCH nor could the paralegal?

I'll have to ask him if he actually filed it..or not.. if so, maybe It'll be me who will have to stop using it? I will gladly honor it if its legally his. We'll see?

By the way, your pics are STRETCHING the forum  again....

Thanks for bringing it up?

I normally suggest the LESS is more approach ( as per Chris's suggestions ). For "Get the Word Out"  BASIC 1 color 18x24 signage as a disposable option and for fast traffic areas, these are terrific, however...

Here is a MORE is BETTER than LESS Sign we use effectively when we leave a upscale customers home, when they allow us to leave them. These are not your ordinary 1 color throw aways.

These are FULL COLOR 48" x 48" coroplast (1 sided) signs that require some special bracing we developed to hold them in place. They work well. I have more info about our marketing strategies on the ARCA if you care to read how we get the customer to accept these monster signs in thier yard and how we brace them?

Dave, there is a link in this thread to my sign guy Phoenix Advertising and Graphics in Gibsonton Florida.
He MAKES his own stands that are super heavy duty.
The rods (there are 6 of them) go a good ways up into the corrugated plastic holes.
The sign will flex in the wind, but not stay laid over, at least not ours.
Our sign are necessarily a bit smaller, less elaborate.
This is because some competitors steal them, on sight.
You may want to request a sample from him, perhaps the stands will work for you ?
We have no problems leaving signs.
I have yet to  have a customers tell us no, except when the HOA prohibits it.

Another revision on a giant 3 foot x 5 foot sign.

Everything looks cool on my computer, I only have a 17" monitor and it's not stretching the forum.

My screen is set at 1024x768 pixels.

Thanks Chris, I will check into those stands from your sign guy. That may just be the ticket for these "BiG Un's" at 48" x 48" they do catch the wind.

We put up double stakes and cross brace them now, works pretty well.

I'll have to make sure to pick it up with in two weeks.

Like Chris said they get stolen or throw away by the customer quick, so ask permission to leave it in their yard, and leave it no more than two weeks.

I am thinking of simply staking them into the ground with some 2x4's cut in half length wise, and sharpen one end so it will hammer into the ground.

3 foot x 5 foot is the largest sign I have thought of using.

I wanted to go with vinyl so I can roll it up for easy storage.

I spent a day putting out signs in high visability locations. I put out about 15 of them. I live withing 10 minutes of Delaware and Maryland so I put them out in 3 states. Not one of those signs lasted longer than 1 week. Most were gone by the end of the next day! My signs were not the only yard signs in those locations, but they were the only roof cleaning ones. My signs were the only signs taken. Gotta love chitty competition!  One guy was even bold enought to replace my sign with his!

I gave up putting my signs out anywhere but at my customer's home. I even had one customer call me to tell me that she caught somebody pulling my sign out of her yard. He claimed he was from the township and that yard signs were against township ordinances, but he wasn't taking the four signs at the next door neighbor's house that is being renovated. She told him she was calling the police and he jumped back into his out of state truck and sped away.

I guess I must have my competition scared or something  confuse

In regards to your problems with having your signs snatched....

specifically by local competitors...

Here's my solution...and you can use it...you have my permission LOL

First, go to a hunting store and ask for their "GAME CAMERAS". Even Wally World has them.

Then if you will be putting it up across the street in a neighbors yard have them sign a release form (both the customers yard and the neighbors acroos the way) so you won't get into trouble for taking these stealth photos.

I put up a a deer /game camera in the BUSH across from a sign that kept getting stolen. It took, and I had to wade thru over 200 pictures but I finally found the culprit.
I love technology. LOL

Great Idea Dave.
I almost don't want to know who is stealing my signs disbelief
I scare myself sometimes how mad I get about stuff like that.
Most of the local Tampa Roof Cleaning guys are OK.
Some are even my close friends.
But there is always a few blankstare

I know what it is. My picture is so large when you quote it, it stretches the forum.

When I post it, it looks ok. But if you quote it, it adds more space to the left and causes it to stretch.

I too had a problem with a sign snatcher. I knew who it was. So I put grease and green food die on the back of a sign. I put the sign at a stop light so he could grab it easily.  He jumps out of his car grabs the sign and lots of green grease that don't come off . That guy hide from my for days. He was a member of the local
C of C and boy did they have a good laugh. Funny thing is left the sign behind.

What do you mean by:

and the degree of road set back of this roof

I can re-take the after pic this spring. The roof still looks clean. Yes, the tree shadows does erk me.

Always very difficult to have perfect circumstances.

I earned a degree in photography back in 1994, and know all about the trials and tribulations of getting that perfect shot. Ansel Adams would go back to the same spots over a hundred times before he got the best possible photograph he wanted.

Chris, if you want to insert your pics, try scaling them down to less than 700 pixels wide, so they won't stretch the forum so bad.

The roof looks a bit distant, set back.
This may have been to get the whole house in the picture ?
Plus, it is not a steep roof.
I just think that steeper roofs, shot closer up, make a more viisual impact ?
It is a white roof, so that shows contrast.
Just know you like to fiddle, so I thought you might like to fiddle with the silver roof ?
I always wondered what it would look like, on a sign ?

No, that's ok. I should use my own photographs. Aren't yours copyrighted?
