Well guys its been raining over here pretty steady since my last post.  I finally got around to trying spreading the love again with new mix.  I used 1 cup per gallon of TSP and a 50/50 mix ratio.  This is what it looks likes after 2 coats, letting the one dry after next application.  I rinsed after the 2nd coat since dirt, algae and moss were still on the roof not part of the roof anymore.

APPLE CIDER SAUCE - 40 gallons/average roof job

15 gallons of bleach - 12.5% sodium hypochlorite
25 gallons of hot water
5 lbs. TSP (Trisodium Phosphate)
64 ounces of isopropol alcohol
1/2 bottle of Ajax or Dawn. Or .5-2 oz/gallon depending on pitch of roof

This is what I used.  Should I have used more SH?  I was reluctant because the place I got it from told me the just their shipment in today.

That is shingle strength Apple Cider, not Tile, but it tried to clean anyway!
WE use pumps for roof cleaning, not pump up sprayers.
The pump up sprayers can't get enough on like a pump can, so here is what to do.
In a pump up sprayer mixture only, simply increase the chemical/water mix up to 50/50
At a 50/50 mix ratio, reduce the amount of TSP  called for in my Apple Cider Recipe by 1/2, since you are upping the chlorine percentage.
Mix the TSP and water in hot tap water, first.  then let sit for 5 - 10 minutes, add your chlorine, stir again, pour into sprayer, go spray on roof, and watch what happens!

Do NOT use the rubbing alcohol in a pump up sprayer, and do not use Dawn, either !
When combined with the Chlorine, both can emit GAS, potentially causing the pump up sprayer to become a BOMB
.
Go to my web site
www.saferoofcleaning.com , scroll about 1/2 way down the page, there is a white text link that is called "Tampa Roof Cleaning Explosion Link"
I waNT YOU TO GO CLICK ON IT, AND READ ABOUT A GUY WITH A PUMP UP SPRAYER THAT BLEW HIMSELF UP !

I had to kind of chuckle about your experiences, laughing WITH you, not at you.
The shingle strength Cider TRIED to clean your tile roof anyway!
Even handicapped by being too weak, and applied with a pump up sprayer, it gave all it had to give. Got to Love the Cider ?
And, it is not unusual for a tile roof to take 2 to 3 coats to clean, especially when applied with a pump up sprayer. Just give  at least 1/2 hour between coats, do not rinse between coats.

Yes, there is a HUGE market for roof cleaning in California, look at your roof, if it is dirty, so are others!

Please follow my instructions, and keep us posted with pictures, how it comes out, ok ?

He will hopefully come back ALIVE, with a clean tile roof to show us all ?
Here is the tampa roof cleaning explosion link, for all to see!
Pressurized Gas ='s a BOMB!

We used to take an empty plastic 2 litre coke bottle, fill it with one to 2 inches of Muriatic Acid, crinkle up some aluminum foil, and insert the foil in the coke bottle, cap it tight, and toss it out into Tampa Bay, often from a boat.
It takes about 5 to 15 minutes until it EXPLODES with a Boom.
Then, simply go gather and filet all the fish ?

You will be just fine, here is a tip, start from the bottom of tile roof, turn sideways, and spray UP against the edges of the roof tiles as you walk up the roof ?
This will get the tile edges good.

Still waiting for the new pics, but in roof cleaning we say "The sloution is the solution"
IOW, IF you got some BAD Sodium Hypochlorite (very possible), it can make you look bad!
Honest to God, a 50/50 mix at a full cup of TSP will clean up a street drunk!
Here in Florida, I clean tile roofs with inches of Algae on them  daily!
I will wait to see the newest pics, but if it aint working, only ONE thing is the "problem", Bad, Old, Sodium Hypochlorite!

OOH, those green things  look like Lichens!!!
A SOB to get off any roof!
The chemical kills them, and they just fall off, after some rains, BUT, you live in no rain so cal.
If ya spray em and wait enough times, they will go bye bye, OR simply take a garden hose with a brass garden hose pressure nozzle from home depot and zap them ?
The roof caps are always the hardest, as you are finding out.
Your is a pretty dirty tile roof, and would be a challenge for many companys.
Just be patient, keep doing what you are doing.
I THINK your stuff is old and weak, in that case, go UP some more in strength.
Even spray it "straight and un diluted" !
That sounds bad, but what you have may have been 12.5  percent, at one time , but has degraded to little more than salt water ?

It is important to remember, that no matter how Bad it looks, you HAVE cleaned your roof.
The stuff is dead, and with enough rains, will simply fall off.
Unfortunately, you live in a dry area.
Solution ?
Garden Hose w/pressure nozzle, or a small pressure washer would speed things up.

None of this would have been necessary with GOOD strong SH

I would increase that old SH you certainly have to 75 percent, what have you to lose ?

I tell you 2 coats of strong 50/50 mix with a cup of TSP per gallon will clean any roof.
