If you run a regulator to keep your delavan from starting and stopping all of the time…or even if you don’t……I would think that heat is your enemy …..right,

Can you throw a bag of ice on top of you delavan to keep it cool……..maybe even install your pump in a cooler……..

This could be the dumbest question you guys have ever heard….please don’t laugh ……….

I agree.  I don't think it's necessary to have them mounted upside down (though it makes perfect sense).  However, I don't have mine flat either.  It's slightly tilted with some PC fans I rigged up to survive these hot days we've been having.

I have read about people putting computers fan on there battery boxes to keep there pumps cool I guess ……great idea by the way…( very inventive don't you think clyde ?).anything to keep the pump cool is a good idea I would think…

have you ever heard of this Clyde ?

Gosh people, the best way to eliminate problems with the Delavan, is to eliminate the freaking Delavan ?
I know you must start out somewhere, and often money is tight!
The Delavan is unquestionably the best starter roof cleaning pump.'
But the goal of every roof cleaner should eventually be an air diapraghm set up, someday.
Mike Sullivan has a lot of experience with the Delavan

Mikey exuse me If I'm wrong but I never seen you post your equipment or even a job you done. do you just come here to hang out with the guys and ask your stupid questions, like How to climb a ladder while carring something up, or putting ice on pumps to cool them off, or will you leave foot prints walking on hot shingles?

I personally think roof cleaning is a far reach for you. You should go back to selling cars, or washing them.

Mikey I'm contributing to this forum, I posted some pic of my equipment, made some reasonable post and as a matter of fact here is a roof I cleaned yesterday.

Now on the other hand it seems your just here to post ridiculous, stupid post. and post negative remarks toward others.

Show us your stuff, your equipment and a job you completed? what are you doing here?

Hey Walk, do you remember this thread YOU started? Stop attacking people or they may have to take YOUR avice and ban you. However, that seems doubtful due to the fact of you being such a cheerleader.

Anyways, the bag of ice is a good idea, but the heat has to be transfered from the inside out. A fan does the trick.

P.S. I have a few pictures of some little jobs that I have done lately too....tune in Clyde...i think you will like what you see....

Here in South Texas we have more than our share of heat and hot summer days.

I have not had a problem with running Delavan, ShurFlo, FloJet or the immitation pumps in the summer time. I do not keep them in a box as they need to dissipate the heat that they make. I only cover them up in bad weather otherwise they are out in the open.

If you feel that the pump is getting hotter than normal I would not put a bag of ice on it but keep it out in the open and maybe rig up a little fan over it to help move air over it or onto it to help cool it down some.

Proper size hoses, wires, fully charged battey will help also.
