I just got my first 5850 - THANKS LORI!!!! - and hose and ball valve assembly. i am putting it together.  i need to get a few more fittings from the store.  I will post a pic when i am done.  Does anyone use teflon tape on their threads?  Will leaking be a concern?

i teflon every fitting and never have leaks some people dont like teflon i on the other hand love it and wont put something togeather without it

I prefer pipe dope (liquid tephlon). I am sure both are fine no real differece. I was a plumber for about four years (new construction) and we always used dope on fittings that would get used and abused.

From my understanding you dont need it for brass fittings, but, it cant hurt!!!!!

Teflon is a good idea. I use it and never have leaks also. It is easier to take things apart if you have that compared to pipe dope.
